For real tho, I made a trailer a long time ago, which I'm not entirely proud of (I didn't know enough about sound effects back then to make proper glitch sounds), but perhaps you might draw some inspiration from it. I doubt any of the footage would be usable but if you want, your call.

There are sites that offer some free to use music, sometimes you need to let the author know, etc. (It is good to have official permission, saves potential trouble.) http://freemusicarchive.org/genre/Instrumental/
Corile, that video is really good! Certainly will keep going back to it for ideas. The special effects that tag a ship and follow it even with the camera moving is most interesting. I wish I could do that!
Ronillon, great suggestion. I'll give that site a good look at soon.

Edit Reason: Also consider the in-game music, there are some nice things too.

I know, Corile's video is cinematic, but maybe you should avoid using stuff, that looks like it might be part of the game, so people do not get dissapointed, that stuff looks different.
Especially this one is very similar to that SC music used in your video http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Scott_..._-_Empires I played it instead of original sound while watching the video and it seemed very good to me.

A good mash-up of the vanilla soundtracks could do it. I know there are some unused Freelancer bonus tracks roaming around somewhere on the internet, for example an even more tense variation of the No-ally-fight soundtrack. If you have a good sound tool, maybe that would be worth a shot?
In-game music is very good for this kind of thing because you don't need to mix it aside from doing a simple crossfade to change moods instantly. The music you can hear in my trailer is actually fragments of like four in game tracks just crossfaded together.
If you were to go for any specific genre for Disco though I would probably pick like lo-fi jazz or hip-hop though, especially if you're going for this comfy style like Imagine.

Maybe it would be useful to gather ideas for scenes that would attract people. Here's what I could think of:
-Capital ship explosion while snubs fly near it for size.
-mixed snub and cap fleet fights
-Giant asteroids in he nebula in Alberta
-Flying through giant planet fragments
-Beautiful ships with pimped lights (for example luxury liners/yachts)
-new base models like the shrine and those in Cayman
-new nomad station models like Major and the generator.
-scenery of nebulas, planets suns, in time-lapsed videos (like in the beginning here
You may want to fix dates to plan fleet battle filming.
I for one could offer the following ships to be filmed (apart from filming them myself with fraps):
-Zoner Colony ship
-pimped advanced train
-pimpled luxury yacht
-snubs in many factions
Make SURE to promote mayor advantages discovery ofers over averege multiplayer games in BIG letters that ocasionally flash on screen betwen action clips, which are :
-There is no "pay to win" , game is COMPLETLY free
-Everithing is unlocked from beginning
-No months of Premium curency farming or leveling up to unlock best features
-No player can buy advantage by real money
-No comercials
-No pain in the ass options you cant disable couse they are required to play (example Facebook)
Etc
Thise are mayor selling points, players are sick of pay to win , forced Facebook, mandatory everyday log-in for achivments, slow pain in the ass leveling up for better things, comercials and ads that pops-out every now and then, recommendations to buy Premium or sign in Facebook after every freking round and milion other anoying things.
Also, i recomend not only to trow-in battle scenes, but also some short exploration and trade/mining ones as well with apropriate big letters description, for example :
-Be quiet miner, peacfoul trader, bold smuggler or curius Explorer searching for secrets of Dam qwosh(Whats their correct names), etc.
