Jinx the problem with having "teams" as you call them is what if the admin in charge of clarifying grey areas in the rules has to go inactive? then there is a scramble, and more work on whoever picks it up, or it doesn't get done.
Server police? I think in several other threads, Server police has been ruled out completely. Speaking to Igiss on MSN he clearly said "There are to be no server police, its not needed, its not necessary" I would have to agree.
Guides? Don't we have Angels? Mind you, I haven't seen them on in a while now.
I agree. A volunteer/nominee thread would be good. But there might be a few downsides? Not sure.

I'll clarify. I meant the "Server Police" could politely and friendily crack down on OORP and OOC.
Especially in the "noob hotspots", Near Malta and in NY.
All it takes is a gentle PM ingame "Please take that Out of role play chat to the private messages. Thank you!"
No I dont. I dont think it's Malta.
I made a mistake in the actual place, but there is one
of the Corsair places that needs veterans encouraging
RolePlay, just like there is that need in New York.

*And then...Suddenly, out of the blue, the community snaps out of it and comes back on topic...*

May I suggest we get more European based admins, since to my knowledge the only European based admin we have is Hoodlum who is inactive(I think).
Which can unfortunately leave us Euro gamers a bit left out as it is, but thats only my opinion.
I'd love to see a pacific-time zone admin. When I usually play, in the afternoons here in GMT +9:30, admins are never online and there appear to be a lot of newbies (good) and oorp players (bad).
Yes to more admins, no to server police. The idea of "secretaries" is interesting, and could probably work very well.
yea - but better than having no one caring about it at all. currently grey areas are not interpreted at all by the admins - or only on very rare occasions. - we had so many posts and concerns about power and accumulating power over non purchased systems and harrassment. and not a single admin stepped in to clear things up.
that led to people flaming each other, cause everyone felt to be right - especially right to smite the other side. - i d wish for guides to step into at least those emotionally charged discussions sometimes and clear things up.
i can accept that admins leave us alone with RP stuff - thats fine, but once it affects the peoples gameplay experience on a metalevel, i wish for interventions. - now since such things crop up quite often here - with so many rules, factions and members of the community, it would be too much work for a small team of admins, - so thats where a team of guides can step in. - it won t solve things 100% - but maybe better than it does it now.
hardly any concept system is perfect, but we can try to improve it where its possible. - when a guide is inactive, the work is not done, thats correct. - same when a guide does not maintain a tight communication with the global admin team. - communication is the most important thing there.... . all of that takes time, spare time - play time. those that do it must WANT to do it - cause they want to improve things. they must not feel like they must do it against their will or cause its "expected off them". admins must have fun administrating - if there is no fun, its work - and who wants to work in his sparetime.... .
so what you need are people that are usually up to date with whats going on - and at least on the forum often - but its equally important to be ingame. - a big problem with admins is sometimes that they find no time to spend ingame anymore - henceforth, they get estranged by whats "really" going on. - its not everyones job for sure... but i am sure there d be people who d take up the job and responsibility. - if they quit or become inactive, they should at least drop them a note so that the admins know they have more work to do then.
however, the work i focus on is not really done by the admins anyway. - its mostly moderating and a link to "official statements" which we often lack.

So yes to admins and no to server police.
Where the Admins live should have nothing to do with how players of different countries are treated.
Don't feel left out, there is no reason to feel that way.
If an admin is favoring fellow countrypeople over others, then they shouldn't be an admin.
If an admin is favoring any group of people over any other they shouldn't be an admin.
EDIT: I didn't think of the timezone thing. Hmmm...well what i said still stands for all forum work that the admins do.
Server administrating though, i see the concern now. Though i still don't feel that an admin should be selected due to where they live.
