Not used to being in a park? He asked, pleased that she was enjoying herself. He walked slowly along the path way, Royal Oaks, Tortured Willows and Redwoods with various wild flowers growing between their roots. I've not been to this park before..it's nice. Alfred would like it here....So, how are you feeling? He asked, stopping and pulling out his pipe.
"I am not used to see anything that is not outpost Holman." Alexandra then switches topic, as looming meeting will come fairly soon. "Do you think I have a chance to make a good impression on Elizabeth? We are siblings, but we are seem to be so different, I am still very worried."
He lit his pipe while thinking about how to answer her question. He didn't know much about Elizabeth personally but he knew that she was the daughter of George and that was cause enough for concern as it was. I think if you're open an honest with her, you'll do just fine love. She came from similar beginnings, now she has it better. Tell her you're willing to learn and work hard and you'll be right. He took a long draw on his pipe as he began walking slowly again. You shouldn't be worried about it lass. Shes family to you, she'll look after you, and if not, I will. He said with a warm smile, hoping to put her mind at ease.
"I am not a good liar, so I will not have much choice between being honest or not. And I like my work, I will do that just as a hobby if I will have enough money somehow." Alex now looks more mild and thankful, emotionally touched. "And, and I find it very weird that people are so kind to me only because I am someone's daughter. I know that's something normal for your society, but I am still... Still feeling like I should not accept that kindness because I didn't earn it."
Victor Laughed We are not all so benevolent my dear, we are only human of course. But we are looking after you because that is what honour demands, the daughter of someone who saved many lives including my brothers does not deserve to rot on some hellish mining outpost in the middle of the frozen wastes, she is too good for it. I will not allow it. He spoke, his voice hardening with determination. He didn't like George Hall personally, indeed his family nearly had the man executed themselves. But since they did not, nothing would get in the way of them honouring his legacy and if that meant protecting his daughters, then so be it. Come my dear, Elizabeth will soon be arriving and we do not want you to be late.
Alex stands on her toes to almost reach his cheek with her lips, but backing down for a last moment. "Thank you, I am sorry, yeah we need to go." She then looks away, hoping that he would ignore it, and just forget it at some point. "I hope we won't get late."
He was surprised at her actions, he let out a small smile in response. No need to apologise, and we have time yet. They advanced toward his shuttle and again they flew over the city, this time lower, in amid the towers and spires of the city itself, their Templar escort clearing the traffic in front of them. Eventually they reached the place and Victor unlocked the doors. She'll be waiting at that cafe over there He said, pointing to a small coffee shop on the street one level above them. The elevator there will take you above us. You won't be in any danger, but take this. He gave her a silver card which otherwise appeared unremarkable. It's a credit chit, I gather from your attire that you're not used to the extortionate prices of Bretonia and rightly so. I'm lending you this then so you can afford to keep up with your sisters...tastes and perhaps so you may get yourself some nice clothes while you're out.
Alex did not know how else to express her thankfulness, she have said enough words, slowly devaluating them. Knowing that it looked weird, but gladly Victor's reaction is mild. It certainly didn't look like a passionate attempt to kiss after all. "A cafe?" Ward didn't expect it to be this, anything but a cafe in fact. It should be interesting to come into such a place as a visitor, but now she looks like she's seriously worrying again. Her hand would slightly shake as she took a credit card. And then Alex is saying thank you yet again. "Thank you, I promise I won't spend too much. Hope to see you soon. Goodbye." Alex is making a slight bow and heading into the direction he pointed. And stress would grow with every step she makes towards that cafe.
Throbbing. That was what Elizabeth's temples were doing. Like a teapot, she was seething. The spices were these: a pint of nervousness, a spoon of annoyance and bit of anger. Matters were pending in New Holland: the Zoners were rebellious, the Corsairs were preparing for a rematch, the Coalition was being unreliable, the Mollies and the Hessians were looming. But in the middle of all of that, the Steiners took the liberty to invite her to Cambridge so she could drink tea and have a casual conversation with someone with whom she, apparently, shared the father she had never known. But her temples were the only signs of her dismay.
The smoke from her long, filtered cigar swirled in the rhythm of the slow electro jazz that was playing in the cafe. Her wide hat, though as light as a feather, was casting a serene shadow over her eyes, which were as calm and confident as if she was receiving a Kusarian massage at this very moment.
"So, dad was making babies with another woman when he wasn't with my mom and me", she said at some undetermined spot in the air when Alexandra entered, clumsily as clueless as she is, but obviously to Alexandra. "Sit here, sweetheart. How old are you?"
With quite noticeable fear Alex is walking into the bar. It's not taking a lot of time to spot Elizabeth, her clothing and posture are in fact making it so easy. She with much shame looks over her gray cheap costume. That's the best set she has and it looks absolutely awful comparing to Hall. Even with Steiners Alex didn't feel herself so humiliated when it comes to look and clothing. She painfully bites her lower lip to cope a shame.
But there she is, her savior. It's thanks to her she has a chance to start a new life with the Steiner's credit card in her pocket. She would listen to Hall with a wild mixture of emotions expressed on her face. Ward then would lose control over herself. She could not explain why she would do that. Maybe it can even spoil everything. But, Alex bends her right knee and taking Hall's hand with hers. Slowly realizing what she just did, she could not find words, but just staying knelt. Some visitors would start watching their table with greater interest.
