I've developed an automated process for processing sanction reports. It works perfectly, and I'd love to share it with the admins. Click here for details and here for a sample ruling.
:P
I go by abbamouse, but my characters are the Cryer researcher Daniel Moss, the very boring and ordinary trader John Smith, the borderline-insane civilian Mr Joker, and a Bundschuh activist who goes by the alias Rosa Luxemburg. I am not them and they are not me.

Oh god, for a second there I actually thought you were being serious.
Its a bit disturbing to see new sanctions postet over incidents that happened 1 week ago. And that is wrong.
So if i desided to buy a destroyer and go pirating it will take a week before i get sanconed, Now how many players game could i ruin in that time frame ?
As i see it we need more admins, not only to take the paperwork but also ingame.
The Sight of a admin ingame flying around will and that is a proof from other well organised servers decrese the rule breaking. Not to mention that that said admin can on spot Kick a player from server for 30 min or disconnect said player, to get his/her attention and then explain that said player to behave or face the concequenses.
I come from a server where there at time allmost allways was a admin online, and if we add the 64 max players up that server only had 1/20 of sanctions as disco server have.
See the problem.
Players dont see a actual admin online, so they dont give a da**.
If you ask me you want to have atleast 4 admins X 4 =16 admins that will cover the basic time zones.
But that is just my 5 cents
I am not a native English Speaker, so i make grammar errors.
But it annoys me when people make silly comments about that... especially brits who for the most part can't speak their own language let alone anyone elses!
I agree with you, there are often no admins to be seen in the game. Obviously players ask those of us with high levels questions etc., but not much we can do when there is a problem, except tell them to pm an admin. I know from experience that more problems could be solved in game if there were more admins on, and the volume of "sanction" reporting goes down.
Sig edited out because it tripped Chrome's malware alarm.
I have a line when i get those questions like where can i find this and where can i find that.
Do my name say tourist information
It might seem hard but you have to discover to be rewarded.

im speaking as a player of the mod and a former server police/admin of a small 30 person test server for a failed mod i ran
admins or some form of police ingame would help take in the slack of the lag of the reports but at the same time every new admin they add (trust me i maed this mistake once wont ever do it again if i ever admin again)can lead to problems...like getting banned from your own server or if not banned haveing the admin"help" his buddys if you guys shoot for more dont let us pressure you and if not admins mabye server police people that can kick players or fine themingame but cant ban
THe idea of more Admins is brought up all the time.
Reasons like: The admins are over worked. There are hundreds of reports and only a few admins to handle them.
So...ya think adding more admins be great???
Then the idea gets shot down and flamed: We dont need any more Admins.....Admins have to be specailly picked from a selected few.....We already have enough Admins......
The stress of an admin is great and at many times irritating. When I helped admin on Excelcia way back in the day, there was an Admin that was in the military on top of that. At the time, I was only sixteen years old and because I had lots of freetime after my homework, I was able to take up a lot of the workload, but that's another story. The guy was army, and he had a 12 hour work day, and then on top of that he had to monitor the server for cheaters (this was when the cheat software first came out and cheaters could still get through a lot of the times). The poor guy worked himself to death with the server and his normal job...and players still b****ed!! I was shocked. Many times I simply told the players to calm down and reel their wants in, but it only got worse, to the point where I simply threw my hands up and took on the full workload so that he wouldn't have to suffer.
The point being, being an admin of a server, espically a large one like Discovery is frusterating. When you have a job like I do being in the military and what not, you don't have a chance to sit down and take a breather. Many other jobs are the same way. Simply put, the job as an Admin is done for our own free time, we don't get anything out of it, all we get is the satasfication that we have made a place where people can come play and have fun, and we rarely get praise for it (admins do here, which is a nice treat).
So, in summary, let me tell you, that being an Admin is no cake walk. At the end of your work day, many people, including me, just want to vedge out and relax, to let our bones rest. But, when you're an Admin, you have to check the server. Hardware settings, make sure the CPU is running at the proper tempature, make sure the entire computer in general isn't making any unusual noises, make sure the RAM usage is at the right levels and not running to the point of blowing up. Then check the load of the server programs itself, make sure there are no cheaters, make sure the server hasn't been crashing over and over...
If you want to be an Admin, seriously think and consider your life. Do you have enough time to do it with your job or school. Are you prepared to handle all the hounding you might get from players, no matter if it's rude or simply asking questions. Are you mature enough to handle the stress of players asking questions?
