You could set the price at 3 million credits per SD and either let the people buy them purely for credits, SD, or, if necessary, 50/50 split of credits and SD.

You are right. This would allow the Overlord to dominate against other medium battleships. It already has the highest armour rating among them, while also being the thinnest. But those were only examples that I thought of in a couple of minutes, I'm sure the devs can think of better.

It will be hard to balance for the both of them to ensure neither is being over powered. It can be done without nerfing the caps though. which shouldn't be an option.

Why not? Cerbs just use the vanilla Rheinland capgun effects.
Though you'll have to make something special for Liberty considering that vanilla Liberty doesn't have a gunboat forward gun effect. That's why in vanilla the primary battleship/cruiser turrets for Rheinland, Bretonia and Kusari had a different looking effect while the Liberty primary just used the normal effect.

I don't think that's a good choice for a moneysink item. House variants of ships and weapons are supposed to be standard equipment, not something super fancy most people won't bother with, which is why a Wraith doesn't cost (much) more than an Eagle or a Liberty Battleship Primary than a Basic Battleship Primary; house players are expected to use their house variants.

If you want to make cosmetic variants of cap weaponry as a moneysink that's cool & good, but don't link them to houses or factions please. There's a reason the Jintsuriki and Minified Spyglass moneysink scanners, despite being invented by specific factions, are explicitly described as being open-market items.

I'm of the same opinion. I feel like there's better options for money sinks.

I wouldn't mind a good money sink version if there was a decent edge to them over the normal ones. Nice effects and a perk to performance would make them worth a high price like 150m.

What other Medium battleships is the Overlord going to be fighting against, realistically? Theres:

LibDread + Harmony, which is just a better LibDread
Zoner Carrier
Red Hessian Battleship
Bretonian Battleship
Nomad Battleship

This is objectively wrong, as it shares 1.8mil base hull with the Harmony, Zoner Carrier, and Hessian BS.

It has only 50.000 more base hull than the Bretonian battleship, which is CONSIDERABLY more agile for the cost of only (!!) 50.000 less hull.

And the nomad battleship has more hull than all of them.

Highest armor rating among who, exactly?

Why are you discussing balance for capital ships when you apparently know nothing about them?
