Just decided to pop in and see how discovery is doing after many many years away, glad to see that the place is still kicking though I doubt I will see many familiar faces or that I will be a familiar face to many after so long.
So what is the state of the game these days like, very active or just ticking over?
Also if I do decide to pop into the game rather than just forum stalking is there anything essential to know at this point?
Hope everyone is doing well and still enjoying the mod,
Kiggles

we are still kinda active peaking with around 80 ish on the Server
if you do start again there's a vet package to help you get started
Thanks,
When I first joined the server averaged averaged around 30 people and 60 was bustling, (can't remember what the cap was back then but it might have been around 80) so 80 seems pretty resonable from my perspective. Though I think it was a pretty constant 100+ by time I left.
I noticed the vet package, but honestly if I do go ingame it will probably be mostly a sight seeing visit so wouldn't require too many resources.

Hey kiggles - pretty sure I remember your avatar. Good to see you back, particularly if you want to take another swing at things and see what's going on.
I think we hit a peak of 112 today, so we're having a bit of a resurgence. No harm in applying for the veteran package either. Ships don't auto delete after a set period any more, so you'd be free to come back to them whenever you wanted.
Ah, I missed that avatar Kiggles. Check through your PM inbox and post history for peak nostalgia.
For those that don't know, Kiggles and I discovered Freelancer, and the Discovery mod, all the way back in 2006. We have been best buds IRL for even longer than that.
Jammi, that's great news about the ship permanence. I'll get Disco installed again soon.
Yeah I'd forgotten I had this avatar here, almost surprised it hasn't gotten lost somehow.
Good to know that the ships are now permanant Jammi, and you seem vaguely familiar to me also but I can't place it exactly, but then it has been over a decade so not too surprising I suppose.
Mephistoles me and Jamez are spooky ghosts from back when there were no faction ID cards (well they got added shortly before we left) and when capital ships were made of tissue paper (1 VHF could beat that pretty happily) and bounced around if touched by anything (rocks, npc, light fighter etc) not to metion we were both part of the [SF] (Sirius Federation) that at one point was the faction that owned both Liberty and Bretonia, things were rather casual back then. ^^
