Alternatively, instead of making it purely an NPC faction, just... let the people who play it do that? They provide perfectly fine RP, they don't go out of their way to hurt people, and they are overall pretty chill. They act like they are just guys being dudes, chilling in space, enjoying what happens around them from a safe distance. Kinda like an AI studying the world around it, making sense of this universe they find themselves in and... oh, yeah, that's what they're supposed to do. There's very few players, and maybe it should remain exactly as it is. Some robots you can run in to and have a chat with when you're flying around doing stuff in the omicrons.
Stop trying to force players to play in your petty oorp arguments. Not everyone wants to be RHA, or Imperialist or feds, or Liberty, or one of the infinite types of Outcasts. Let them be how they are, because they're doing a pretty good job of it, and are almost always a pleasant sight, albeit a rare one.

Well spoken, fully agree.
The last thing I want to do is hurt you, but it's still on the list...

I like the faction. I'm not asking for it to be deleted either. I just think it could find a much better, more integral, and more relevant purpose as a pure PvE/NPC entity.
changing alive RP/PVP players for NPC/PVE? Urgh. Thanks. no.
Missions and events are absolutely both part of the RP environment and valid for RP interactions. Also, you're kind of forgetting that the recent PvE changes have pushed the player count past 100 at peak times now. Don't write it off.

Smh.
Yeah... people accusing me of ooRP or that there's a personal element to this... do you know that since I've been here I've been in pretty much all the AI Official factions, and the HC of one? Also, methinks people aren't properly reading the OP as I'm not suggesting to delete the faction, only to repurpose it. Quit the hysteria please, it's eye-rolling, and above all else not constructive.
For the people saying that they do play AI characters or think the faction should remain as is - do you have any ideas whatsoever for what could be done to renew interest in this concept? I guess I'm kind of seeing what happened with LWB: lots of fuss being kicked up over its removal, yet no one coming forward with ideas for how the faction could continue (that's not to say I don't think it was a crime to remove a vanilla faction from the mod, but on the contrary, AI were an easter egg). This proposal is just a means to give AI at least some relevance in a universe they have largely been completely forgotten in and left with shapeless, undefined lore.
And once again, with those who have given examples of characters here, I can't help but feel they have very little relation to what is at least understandable about the [b]Gammu[b] Artifical Intelligence faction. Which in that case, surely a generic AI ID could allow room for such RP still. Gammu AI =! AI.

I tried my best to simplify AI lore where I could and give room to allow freedom within the faction, but it was still met with mixed eyes. AI is too 'abstract' for lack of a better term to be played correctly in my eyes and would probably be better off used as a plot device.
This is the man who created and ran the last official AI faction Discovery had.
Why is it when suggestion like these are always from you lyth?? Anyways this is a bad idea. We dont need anymore factions going poof or exclusive. Content is what brings people around and who knows sometime in the future we might get a great AI faction that can change the way we see the npc faction ad a whole.
What I can tell you with 100% certainty is that we will never find out if you go and remove players ability to play the faction.

He has more time, since he doesn't spend it all writing up forum fines.
I don't understand how cutting AI will benefit atall! I really Enjoy rp'ing as AI you take that away what have i got left to immerse myself in!
I mine i trade i play a NEW AI floating out with no vocal ability, yet i roleplay this as no vocal ability and just what i am doing and it's the players that do not see it is not vocally spoken! It is just what i am doing in RP - In liberty today a LN spoke to me as if my electronic computed language and process was coherent to him it was in bracket and not as speech it was what i was doing as a Computer to scan learn and process the situation i initiated a retreat sequence in brackets as is RP requirement to interact! Granted they tried to not let me escape and failed but i feel they didn't quite get it!
I think the problem here is not with how folks RP AI i think it's with how folks react to AI's RP as if they are a biological being! they are not they are sentient robots with an ability to learn process information and grow! And if it's a door you won't tread in then so be it but that should be no reason for others to not be able too!

couldn't be bothered to quote and yes if there was to be some grounds for change i would happily get involved i am highly into the AI concept that you have placed into GC - Not only would it be wise to keep AI as a player faction not only for development but also to engage war against the Nomads, in all respects the only race unable to be affected by the Nomads is the AI with solid development and a good AI story whats the harm in a neutral hiring a few computer AI's to uplink with their ship to go on a mission of exploratino and learning into the heart of Nomad country! I'd certainly get up on that provided the RP was made correctly! You say we have nothing to do but we do we have plenty just cause most of the funs in the central areas of sirius the outerworlds still evolve and grow too!
Maybe the folks so hardy against this should try RP'ing an AI it's not easy but theres still plenty to do! Plenty to immerse myself in without havin to PvP every five minutes if theres a hard interest in Discovery for me it would be AI!
