Martin after hearing about that, he turned to look to Taylor.."So you have no clue." Martin smiles, takes the pad, and finds the file regarding the Azurite."So, Director, Azurite is a synthetic compound, that has particular proprieties. As a solid it’s a typical conductive transition metal, but as a gas it can be excited and produce ions and quark radiation, ions can be used for power, and radiation can be used to re-excite the gas for more ions until the gas is depleted. So you should be able to imagine all the possible uses for it, even if in the past I know the Order considered it dangerous, but it's not. It's basically an infinite source of power."
Martin turns to the the object once again to try to analyse how it's made. The glowing purple-pink color reminded him of Azurite, and if the radiation pattern match, then it had to be it. "So basically what you have here, it's none other than a big powercore, if my assumptions are correct."
"So we were pretty much on point with our theory, that could be a first." Taylor takes out a small tablet of his own and starts to scroll through a seemingly endless list of projects and tasks. "That could certainly be of enormous help to some of our bigger projects. Well, since the question of 'what it is' has been answered, we should look into the possible adaptation of this tech. We could develop and use an upgraded reactor for an Osiris... But I digress. With you being familiar with this technology I'm sure you have plans on your own, correct?" He takes a few notes before directing his attention back to Martin.
Martin, hearing the question, smiles before answering to Taylor."Director, you, out of all organisations, should be aware that the Order already manage to use Azurite in weaponry, at least from what I've seen.So based on what Order already has in possession, with our knowledge, we should be able to manage to work something."
Martin turns again to look at the object, looking at it to try to understand it more."As for this object, I'm of the idea that we do not possess the necessary technology to make it compatible with human technology. Because, firstly, except that's made of Azurite, we have no clue what exactly it's made of, if it's organic or inorganic, and many other variables. Unless, you already know a way, of course."
Martin was curious of this object and if it could be used for anything at all with the human technology, and he was hoping that Order had more answers.
"Unfortunately not, and I admit, I may or may not have forgotten about the adapted nomad tech some of our friends in the Order use." He scrolls nervously through the files on his pad while he's trying to come up with a plan. It only takes a few seconds before his hands discontinue their movements as he fixates upon a certain entry on his pad, an old report detailing several encounters with Wilde ships from before the ORG's time. "Coming to think of it... We've had quite a few contacts ships controlled by infected humans, these sometimes would carry a nomad power cell with them. Maybe they just carry them for safekeeping, or for transport, but that wouldn't make that much sense. Why not just keep them at a more fortified installation, or transport them aboard something stronger than a simple fighter. No, what if they're actually integrated into the ship and its systems? If we were to capture one of them intact, we might be able to reverse engineer the tech and use it on our own ships. Unless I'm missing something... What do you think?"
As Martin heard what Taylor said, he looked to him."May I?"So Martin starts looking at the data from the reports.
He was amazed; those cells were only a myth for him, he heard about those, but never had the chance to actually confirm their existance. "Director, I must say this is impressive; I thought they were only a myth."
Martin stops, takes a deep breath and continues."You can be right indeed Director, however we do not have the technology to actually understand how they are made, not even actually reverse engineer them. Reversing is no easy task, and you should know. But I'm not so sure we an do that, as the technology is too advanced for our understanding. I'm not saying we cannot do it - don't get me wrong, but do not rise the expectations too high."
Martin then turns back to the glowing object."We can however start some more detailed scanning on this specific object, to try and understand it's nature. And in case we can't reach an end, we can simply work directly on Azurite. Let's call that a plan B, what do you think?"
Martin looked as his pad, and he moved a bit further."Excuse me but I need to see this." As then, Martin saw it was from the Board that a very complicated situation came up.
When he saw that, Martin came back to the Director."Director, something urgent came up that requires my attention. Hopefully I helped you, but I'll be sending one scientist from my team here, Charles Hookman, so he can proceed this research. I really apologize."
As he greeted the Director, he rushed back to his vessel as he needed to reach Ames as soon as possible.
"Don't get me wrong, I wasn't talking about reverse-engineering their cell. These cells must've been mounted somewhere within the ship. If we could find that spot, this... Bridge, of sorts, between Human and Alien technology, we might be able to learn something from it. And maybe even use it to gain insight into their tech as they had to have made it compatible with ours." He looks through the laboratory's window into the fuel-cells containment cell. "That would be a good starting point to find a way to integrate this Azurite Cell into our technology at maximum efficiency." He pauses for a few brief seconds to think before he continues. "Obviously we already have the means to integrate azurite, but as I said, what I'm interested in is efficiency and possible other effects. I want to see just how far we can get with this." He again stops as Martin has to get ready for departure. "It's no problem. You've given me some valuable insight into this as well as make me aware of some... 'Critical oversights'. Have a safe trip."
Not too long after Martin left, a small transport has moored Dabadoru, from which a man, wearing the Genesis outfit, was slowly walking towards the base's door."Excuse me where can I find the director?"The guard was a bit confused, as he wasn't expecting anyone, for the director, so he started asking if Charles had the permission.
So after he handed the ID, and completely checked him, another Order operative escorted him towards the laboratories, where Martin has left Taylor, waiting for Charles. "Excuse me, Director Taylor right?"So he gently takes the hand out of his pocket in sign of greeting."My name is Dr. Charles Hookman, the substitute Mr.Lawrence has sent to continue our joint study." After that he turns to the glass to look at the powercell."Would you mind telling me in where did you left your discussion regarding this 'artifact' ?"
"Good to have you with us, Doctor, welcome aboard the altair." He stands next to him, also looking at the fuelcell. "To give you the short version: We've so far just been planning. We've last been talking about some technically classified information, these being the nomad power cells being carried by Wilde ships. Perhaps you've already seen one of those yourself. In case you havent, some Wilde vessels carry Powercells with them, the same cells that have destroyed one of the omega systems. We're not exactly sure why they need such powerfull technology mounted on small fighters, espacially since the cells neither activate nor get destroyed with the vessels. That's why I've put up the theory that they're somehow connected to ships systems. So if we could get our hands on an intact ship with an integrated cell, we might be able to reverseengineer this connection from the side that we're familliar with, our technology. This of course, would also fuel other research projects and might give us the ability to better integrate our artifact here into our own systems. Theoratically at least."
Charles looks at the artifact while Taylor speaks, trying to understand what was that exactly. But when he mentioned Nomad powercells, Charles finally understood what was this. Azurite."So, I assume you spoke about Azurite right? Mr. Lawrence used to work with it, for a long time now, aswell as myself; so now I understand why he sent me here."Breaks his speech with a small laugh, then he looks at the director."Director, the main issue with this powercell, is that we have never actually studied those, because even if you look at it from outside, it's clearly not made to be connected to human technology."
He takes the pad that was on the desk, and then turns to Taylor."Director, would you mind if I ran some scans?"
