The stranglet cannon, as is, is unbalanced in a massive way. Its simply unfair, when compared to the mini and the standard Supernova.
Of course, thats just my opinion.
I actually, believe it or not, prefer debs over tizzies and coladas.
But I didnt suggest everything to be the same. You know that, and I value variety as much as the next man. But there is a line to be drawn where variety becomes unfairness, and I think that line is crossed with the speed value on the Nomad strangelet.
Please dont twist my words about balance, as balance goes hand in hand with varienty. What it -doesnt- go hand in hand with is RP, as I think you'll find that Tiger tanks in the second world war were "unbalanced" compared to Sherman tanks.
The Eurofighter Typhoon is also unbalanced compared to a F-14.
If by Roleplay we want to strive to emulate life in a fictional universe, then by all means give the Rogues some little pew pew cannons while giving the Liberty navy some real guns. After all, aint it strange that the Rogue Sammael is better by far than the Vengence V, despite the huge difference in funding for the two organisations, in RP?
Its naive to think that everything should be completely equal, which is why I never said that.
Its equally naive to think that balance can go hand in hand with hardcore RP.
You seem to think that I believe the first, and I seem to think you believe the second.
I agree whole heartedly with Chopper here. He's said everything i've tried to say in a better way, and I dont believe hes missed anything.
Thankyou Chopper.
EDIT: I use 6 Black Widows and a Mini razor on my Xeno, and I kill a lot of things. You shouldnt have a problem killing things when you use a mini razor to drop a shield and a strangelet firing right after (as they will use the same reticule spot) to do a single pass instakill.
And what do you use on the Nomad VHF (assuming its got two level 9's and four level 10 slots?)
Like said, I'll look into other variants and test them, but still, you're blowing discussion out of proportion. And yes, it'll still be about speed, i.e. sacrificing damage for speed.
Quote:Which of us is right, or is it neither?
Both and none.
Connor, your stats about nomad VHF is wrong, it's 4 lvl 9, 3 lvl 10. Mixed mid-refire laser types.
Quote:As for Nomad SN, I'll think about other variants, but either way they'll all be around dealing with speed rather than damage.
Let's compare a Nomad weapon with Kraken II. Both are Vanilla.
Kraken II -
Damage - 556/278
Speed - 700
Energy consumption - 126
Nomad Blaster -
Damage - 585/292.5
Speed - 600
Energy consumption - 94
So, by following these guidelines, Nomad Supernova should have :
More damage
Slower speed
Less energy consumption
You can't make it faster then others. You have nothing to back it up, except new weapons, which are better then Krakens in every area, so you can make an uber-pwnzorzing Nomad supernova if you follow those guidelines.

I think it's best to just have one supernova type, using the Order stats. And just renaming the weapon and its description so people can recognized it as an universal gun.
Supernova is one of the most important guns in the game, everyones personal interest will interfere to make it balanced... Even my own.
To be fair chopper, neither of those guns are, strictly speaking, vanilla.
The Kracken was nerfed a tiny bit, and the Nomad blaster had its energy use upped from 15 to 94.
I still believe your point stands though, as the characteristics of the guns still represent the characteristics in vanilla, just had to say that.

Both and none? Please elaborate as I dont follow.
I didnt know the stats on the nomad VHF, which is why I assumed the most common stat arrangement. But you didnt answer what guns you use on it. Are there level 9 nomad guns?
Also, 10's do not win over 9's. Diamondback vs Kracken. Take your pick people.
McNeo, since faction leaders are choosing how their new Supernovas will look like, I urge you to sacrifice 30k damage for 70 speed and 1200 range on a Corsair Supernova.

Chopper, like ships are tailored for speed sacrificing their armor so will be nomad SN, that's current warfare doctrine for Nomads. Again, as for Krakens vs Nomad Laser Types you keep comparing lvl10 guns to lvl9, quite obviously 10 win over 9, no surprise here!
edit: yes, there are lvl 9 nomad guns.
There are various codenames too, some better, some worse. Again, that's just how it is.
