Thank you for your feedback, but I'd appreciate it if you kept the whole '' I'm a victim of harassment" complex to a minimum as Bounty Hunters hunt targets you are not an exception to that. Let me get a few points in short answers as you seem to think Aegis represents all pvpers in your mind.
Aegis does have competent pvpers that is correct, ones more so than others. Our accomplishments usually stem from being firmly in sync and knowing how to play around one another more rather than anything else. Now should we stop playing the game because we are the best at doing what we do? That's a huge ask from your part, because that's what I'm getting ''stop playing together''.
As for over all PVP and pvpers, there's at least 5 different Discords that I'm in that people openly balance raid fights, even organic natural fights by saying "hey x is fighting z , you log x I go with z", which is not perfect but a great start. Now if people don't like you or your faction, it is not up to anyone to make them log for you at the end of the day it is a multiplayer game and we can't foce people.

That would at least show people what you're capable of on the forum. For example, this comm to DSE comes from an anonymous "burner" account that no one will think to check when looking at information about your faction. Either use @The Aegis Initiative, or list the other accounts inside the info thread.
I think you should also strongly consider doing MDs. If having a list of accounts shows people forum rp, MDs show people in-game rp when they weren't part of the interaction. I personally also want to read interesting in-game MDs, and I think you're capable of writing them. You guys have plenty of credits - incentivize people taking the time to write something by paying them. Or just assign the job to one of your players who doesn't mind making these posts - I realize it's not for everyone.
Finally, with this and Orex, I don't like where factions are heading in terms of openness. Why don't you have a discord? Why not list a 2IC? Will anyone be able to join, or is recruitment behind closed doors such as discord pms? Is there going to be a feedback thread where people can discuss issues they have with the faction?
It's hard for me to explain, but this increased anonymity is giving off the wrong vibe. What is the point of it?
There will be a compilation of things in our up and coming info page, as for MDs the bounty claims themselves sometimes serve as their own MD other than that I'm not to fussed about them personally, we will have a feedback thread when we post our infopage. As for the anonymity, a lot of people just want to play the game and be judged by their in game actions rather than who the person is, there's a lot of stigmas in this community sadly. We respected that, that's why as you see certain members are open, certain members are not. We will have an open cool recruitment process that will not be just the usual ''make a forum app to get in'' but more engaged and entertaining, our Discord however will remain closed off and only current and future members from the recruitment process are to be invited ( honoring those who wish to remain just as Discovery characters).
Won't rant about ace stacking and all that, you guys just want to enjoy the game and it's completely understandable, just remember that not everybody is of your skill ceiling and not everybody is willing to dedicate themselves to becoming a pvp ace just to be able to compete with you - some people just want to chill.
Good luck with your app, and git gud at tracking ingame activities (stop being late)

I was being literal about the whole harassment thing, because I have had unwarranted DMs and seen some sussy stuff. And in the past, hunting down people across the game to not let them play isn't okay, but as I said in my post, you stopped doing that so it's fine.
But the bad vibes still kinda linger, there's no sense of character like I said.

You can get people to log another side if it's too heavily skewed to one side in terms of skill set or get someone to stand aside tho. Because the perception at the moment is having a load of aces stacked and basically just autowinning.
It's fine to have better players, but it would be easily demotivating the average guy if they can't even make a single dent without getting demolished in seconds. And it being repeat episodes in every fight. I'm pretty confident that 2 Aegis players can take on 8 DTR snub players if they wanted to. Yes, you can't determine everyones skill set without getting your hands into it, but it would be nice if there was some consideration to level out the skill levels.
I'm still curious about the questions I posed previously. What will you do with officialdom?
I get it, I'm talking to a master at communicating with people. Thanks for your constructive response. This says a lot about the faction and about the morality that exists within. I think certain conclusions can be drawn from this.

Nice bait, but I won't answer that. I don’t know why you allow yourself to spit in the face of your interlocutor.
In any case, I thank all participants. I received clear answers to some of my questions, and to others I drew conclusions based on the the trash talk that erupted under this thread. I cannot wish good luck and prosperity to such an attitude. It will not end well. I'm withdrawing from this thread.

Just to get this straight: You went into a public discussion, assumed that someone who has a (not even) opposing argument is a straw man, take snippets out of context or ignore the context entirely, followed by assuming I'm part of Aegis. Yes, that's bait and the opposite of constructive arguing. I'm not part of any faction, and if you'd bother reading what I wrote, you would notice that I'm not even hiding my own scepticism about Aegis by pointing out that this upcoming trial period is the perfect time for them to show everyone, even the most antagonistic dispositioned people in here, that this faction can do more than /1 /2. It nevertheless does not mean that anyone should expect them not to go for bounties on targets that, as mentioned, sit in the same place for hours.

To me, Aegis in its current iteration is the embodiment of this graph (I made it myself in paint (and I even put a little border on it afterwards)):
As a faction, it's collected a solid group of (significantly) above average PvPers. I can't say much for the roleplay of the faction, as my interactions are both fairly limited and generally have been little more than a few lines of foreplay-tier roleplay. I have attempted to get a little more out of the Aegis ships I have encountered, but as of yet have not succeeded. I may however simply have gotten unlucky and bumped into the wrong people or the right people at the wrong time. I'm not too fussed, as I don't think bounty hunter roleplay has to be particularly elaborate. As an (aspiring) official faction, of course, a little more will be expected of you, and only time will tell if you're able to deliver.
Anyhow, back to the point I was trying to make. My biggest concern with this faction is this: Discovery is an "open world" game with no matchmaking whatsoever. Players are free to pile as few or as many ships on targets as they desire. However, historically, players have generally self-enforced some basic fair play rules. These rules basically boil down to: attempt to make any fights you pick as winnable for both sides as you can. There's all sorts of tools for this, but the most commonly employed ones are (or were):
Pick the right players. If your players significantly out-skill the opposition, consider letting your weakest players have their shot before sending in the big guns. Alternatively, allow yourselves to be outnumbered to a significant enough degree that your opposition has a realistic chance at winning, or at least collecting a few blues before being taken out.
Observe how a fight is going, and if it's lopsided in your own favor, pull some players out. Either take the fight outnumbered or replace your stronger players with weaker ones, if possible. This can be tricky, of course, as the player you may want to pull out might also happen to be the enemy's target and the one bleeding bots, in which case pulling them out would be a dick move.
As a highly PvP-focused faction that is often the initiator of combat, the onus is usually on Aegis -- who find themselves in the driver's seat more often than not -- to show restraint. I am aware that the culture around fair-play has shifted quite radically in recent years -- for the worse, unfortunately -- but I also do believe that we can still turn it around. It's up to factions like Aegis, especially as an official faction, to make that happen.
(05-01-2024, 10:20 AM)L1ght Wrote: Bear in mind though I see people complain ''Aegis comes online time to die I guess'' - Bounty Hunters are supposed to be competent, if we weren't there'd be no reason to play bounty hunters as we wouldn't have a single pay out. It's the nature of the faction.
Takes like these worry me a little bit, as it appears -- at a glance -- to be an attempt to use the fact that this faction -- unlike most others -- gets paid for successful kills, as an excuse to forego the fair-play etiquette mentioned above. If your goal is to ensure that every time you log in every possible target you got anywhere near is dead, then at the very least you should make sure that your targets are getting ample chances to collect some kills themselves, as that tends to soothe the pain of being shot down quite well.
I think, however, that the problem lies in the graph at the beginning of my post. Players on their climb to the top tend to develop egos that have yet to be cut down to size. Aegis has a large roster of individuals that are, probably, still in this stage. It's these players that often struggle to "allow" themselves to be killed in PvP, and as a consequence are hesitant to really take self-enforced fair-play rules to heart. What I don't think helps Aegis' case, either, is the fact that in this faction this attitude is coming from the very top.
Despite people making claims that they're trying to course-correct, I have yet to really see any significant positive changes. However, I genuinely hope to be proven wrong in the future.

Have you ever heard of cause and effect or reaping what you sow?
@Antonio asked me to post here and share some Words of Wisdom but honestly I don't know where I'd even begin because he's more of a diplomat than I am and he also actually gives a shit about the outcome (please revert snubs as far as the clock will go I beg you).
You all have such a genuine, deep-rooted dislike for each other that there's nothing I or anyone else could ever say to try and bridge the gap or do anything to, as he put it, unpoison the well. I wouldn't call it outright hatred but I do think it's bizarre that people stick around in such close proximity to other people they so clearly violently dislike rather than just getting fed up with it all and leaving. If I had absolute power I'd slap all of you with an indefinite ban, lock you in a big Discord server for you to piss and scream and whine at each other until you all sat down and sorted stuff out together, and only once there was some actual dialogue on the table would anyone maybe get to log into the playground again to camp Earhart rare items 24/7 or meatgrind new players off the server or whatever your particular poison is.
