Going through all the opinions debated above, we feel the need to add some comments, with hopes that we won't be misunderstood.
We are very aware of the inquiry done by DTR to identify our members and leadership. With that achieved, a label of trolls was put on us in the first days of |Sails, having in mind only some of our member's background. Is that enough to be considered trolls? Depends on who you ask.
Back to the beginning, we still believe that our faction's info page is clear enough to understand the difference between us and other Corsair factions. Still, we'll consider editing it, to make our intentions, modus operandi and goals ever clearer. It probably won't be enough, but we will try.
While we appreciate everyone's opinion on this feedback thread, all we ask for is the liberty to do us. All we did so far, using/stealing/borrowing an old tag, the faction's vision, it's goals and so on, are the work of a like-minded group of people. We do our best to offer quality encounters, but this doesn't mean it will end up your way. We roleplay a ruthless band of Corsairs after all.
As for the event thing, we only want to highlight the difference between inRP faction grudges and ooRP player grudges. We only wanted to exclude the faction due to RP reasons, not the players. On the event's roster there is a DTR member who signed up before this whole topic started and everything was cool. Food for thought.

Public community event for all Corsairs - other Corsairs factions not allowed to join.
In a live role playing environment, you are not owed or mandated to be included in an event. Fights develop differently every time and people have their own plans, in this case Sails spearheading an offensive against Mollys & Coalition. It makes no sense for them to work together with DTR & TBH in this.

Absolutely, couldn't agree more. So this shouldn't have been marketed as a public Corsair event but as:

In which case, absolutely no problem whatsoever. No need for stealthy edits, post-factum addition to the rules that OFs can't participate etc.

It makes no sense for Corsairs groups to work together against their enemies or to raid in Bretonia/Dublin, right. Especially given all the events in Theta.

After said member was asked ooRP what tag would the ship carry.

I am not saying it should be done inRP. I am saying that the example provided of a DTR member in question was cool because you confirmed/checked what tag they would be using before ''admitting'' them.

The faction page is clear enough as to why Black Sails are this way, indeed. I just want some clarifications on my end.
1. I like this quote: "The cruel and twisted. They are ruthless raiders who strike without warning, slaughter or enslaving all who stand in their way. Having fallen far into the depths of depravity, their every waking moment is dedicated to inflicting pain and suffering on Bretonia."
I can see you made your homework as to how is/was Black Sails in its core, but ''enslaving'' I am not sure at all. Maybe I am in lack of lore knowledge, but weren't Corsairs against all related to slaving activities?
2. Will there be more in game interactions or story threads than raids?
I mean, I understand why putting DTR and TBH as unfriendly because Ortega sees their visions as poison, but to what end? Ending up to kill between each other?
