With the Jump Gate supplies staged on Erie, the next phase of the YBR operation is slowly coming into play. Due to DSE assets previously focused on the Ontario system and various internal projects, only infrequent caretaker flights have actually passed through Kansas. With Ontario definitively out of commission for further salvaging efforts and the new aura of secrecy about the gate restoration there, internal money-making efforts have moved in a previously unthinkable direction. Decried by shareholders as a "wild rogue chase", the reclamation of resources left behind by the war with the Insurgency is now becoming a more attractive investment opportunity.
In tandem with ongoing efforts to relocate the Bering gate construction site, a new survey operation has been developed to reassess the nature of the Kansas system. While caretaker vessels have confirmed that both the Kansas and Vespucci jump holes are stable, their inability to deviate from a defined path has severely limited additional mapping efforts. With the vagaries of Sirian gravitometric paths and the general lack of hard data about the war, previously employed charts of the system are next to useless for future construction plans.
Never afraid of making use of local interest, DSE shareholders have voted to expand the contract to certain non-Libertonian elements who may have an interest in providing survey data. Security contracts and insurance premiums have already taken a toll on allocated budget numbers, as possible hostile elements within Kansas are yet to be definitively outlined. George Rolf has made an internal announcement to all DSE employees that "We ain't going in there blind, and turning on the lights will cost us time and money. I expect that all employees continue in their duties, while makin' use of the available contracts to get this thing done before we start buildin' the gate. It's time we fully mapped this quadlin' country."
Please note, discovering and reporting on the Alien Jump Gate should only be done after extensive preparation to do so. We can discuss this further on discord if you're interested.

What are the aggressors supposed to do if the surveyor is a transport?
You've got it, this will run until everything is charted.
As for what people should do - RP about how they're doing the wrong thing, pirate and tell them to leave, etc. The bounty is just there to incentivize people to come out, after that it's up to them.

The Starfliers have been pinged to participate in this
Also, if anyone wants to use a template for the reports @Barrier is after, anyone is free to use the official Starfliers bbcode template. I only ask that you replace the top section with your own code. I guess that section can be used to display the date, sectors surveyed and all the details the event has asked of us to provide.

Over last weekend I plotted full zig-zag waypoints course and went through every sector of Kansas. This scanned and mapped report (of 27 notable wrecks/stellar objects/etc.) is attached to the Orbital Cartography Reports Server in the Starfliers Report Server, linked below. Note that sections are redacted and non-public based off of later guidance:
I'm fairly new to all this and I do not know where the compromise is, roleplaying-wise, while balancing the rules and end intention of this event. Looking across the 3 past reports, there appear to be ~11 noted discoveries I have deplicated in my report, and ~16 (6 of which are redacted), that are distinct.
Since this is not part of the cartographic mapping of Kansas, I've included the story-write-up of the Gate discovery as the personal log (as suggested), and will attach here.
Please review, let me know your thoughts and if any tweaks are required.
