I think Titan should stay as it is, perhaps some improvements, no need to make a new advanced version... as nobody will fly the old one...
Centurion on the other hand could use a boost, to a proper HF status, lvl 9 shields, but enough agility to rival any VHF with some comfidence...
I like the IDea of HF's being space superiority oriented, taking down other fighters. While VHF's would be more strikerish... right now HF's pale in comparison to VHF's due to their lack of everything.
So i'm all for upgrading, no need for a new ship, just upgrade the old one...

Eagle - Speed
Titan - Armour
Sabre - Damage, speed, AND MORE ARMOR.
Don't believe me? Look it up. The Sabre's speed has been buffed, and its gained an extra 1000-2000 armor or so. The only thing that hasn't changed is its powerplant and number of weapons.
Except for guess what, its weapons were buffed to -the best- weapons of their class in the entire game.
In my opinion, that is rigged, and in need of nerfing, or buffing of the Titan and Eagle to counter it.
I wonder how many people would scream if the Eagle got better speed and titan armor, as well as a titan powerplant.
Get the picture now?
btw, I'm not back.:P

Sabre got that extra armor when the explosives problem between Vanilla and non-vanilla ships became a big problem.. Why the Eagle never got an armor increase either, I don't know. Since the components are going away next version, the armor needs to go back to default. Speed and firepower are fine, as its strafing is going to be fixed, which will solve that problem. Until someone decides to OVER nerf it, then we have the opposite problem.. Thats the problem with FL.. Finding the middle land between the extremes, and making it work.

I don't know what should be done to it to nerf it enough to be in the same class as Titan.
So, don't be afraid. By your logic, Corsairs should scream and moan by now.
And they don't.
And yes, it's turning rate should be nerfed as well, to some 1.175 I'd say.

No it didn't work, no one flew the Titan or Sabre at all, everyone flew Eagles with nomads and tizzies.

The Sabre does not have more armour than the titan, trust me. It really doesn't, you wanna look at the stats?
The eagle is IMO on a par with the sabre, the titan isn't so good, but its still very very good. It beats an RT on the turn and has a powerplant to kill for. The problem with the Titan is not its stats, its the size and shape of the thing, and that can't be changed.
I think that frankly we should have faster more manuverable fighters all round, leave the sabre where it is and bring other stuff up, lose the vanilla vulnerablity and bring other stuff up. Using the Sabre as a kind of measuring stick. It feels how a fighter should feel IMO. Other things could be faster others slower, the Titan should be a heavy damage tank like ship in my opinion, big armour, big powerplant, a real thugs ship.
I fly all the different vanilla VHF's in various guises (my OC and Xeno chars are fairly apparent, but I'll leave my corsair for you to work out), and yeh my favourite is the sabre, but I loike the titan a lot, its a very dangerous ship. It take a fair aount of practice and a different style in order to fly it effectively, but its very good.

Corsairs DO scream and moan right now..
And it'd be very easy to nerf the Sabre to uselessness. Aside from its strafing ability, it doesn't have all that much agility. An Eagle can easily outturn it, and the Titan isn't Tooo far away now that it has had its turn increase since Vanilla.
Can you then, please, give me the list of all VHF's that have better turning rate then the Sabre?

Eagle can outturn it? Oh noez, let's not touch it then. I'll remind you, you are the same person that used to say how Eagle can't beat a Chimaera ever.
Titan is close? Really? Did you ever fly it?
You can't even compare Titan's and Sabre's agility, not even close.
I fly both regularly and I know the difference pretty well.
Quote:And it'd be very easy to nerf the Sabre to uselessness.
It depends, uselessness for whom? Put a Corsair (who's used to Titan) in that 'useless Sabre' and he'll do just fine.
The only VHF that is actually close to a Sabre is a BD.
There are no other VHF's that can dodge 5+ people shooting on them easily.
JihadJoe, if you are flying a Titan, then you are aware of it's abilities.
I agree, in 1vs1 it's not bad, though not great either, can't be compared to Vipers or RT, since they are so small head to head.
In small fights it's actually quite nice if you know how to fly it.
In mass fights, it's just doomed to fail.
You can't track your target, since it's slow.
You can't dodge for a long time, since it's a brick as far as the agility goes.
You, literally, eat all nukes that come close to you, because of the wings.
I needed a long time of practice to learn to dodge nukes in it.
When I learned that, I was able to dodge nukes in any ship.
You also eat all missiles going towards you.
Titan isn't bad, but really, when compared to a Sabre, it's not even the same class.
This isn't a rant, this is my objective opinion, I really do fly both ships on regular terms.
I'm in Lane Hackers and I simply hate myself for flying a ship that can dodge around 10 people in Liberty.
I'm also not on a crusade to improve the Titan, it's just as I like it.
Sabre will be changed or won't be, I can't affect that, I was just stating my opinion.
Have a nice day!:)
