The IMG even have a base on a trade lane in Cambridge. Somehow I doubt that its anything more than "don't throw you trash in my back yard, my back yard's full" attitude, especially with a Bretonian battleship just one lane away ready to clear out the IMG if they start destroying Bretonia's prime resource assets.
........
Just clearing up the common misconception that IMG is openly hostile to Bretonia.
Was floating about Cardiff last night watching IMG light figters engaged in a futile conflict with a 3 Bretonian Cap ships.
Perhaps the times are a-changing. ;)

funny how you hold to the word independent but not to the word guild...
Its independent guild...both words count here...guild is organized entity of skilled people sharing common goal. Fact is that this guild is independent from rest of factions out there gives you no right to use their ships as you see fit.
All on those ships in IMG ship line have a reason to exist:
Spatial - exploration vessel for one or two pilots with good defense capabilities. Most likely used by IMG as scout for Albatross. Also used by Freelancers.
Albatross - Deep explorer in dangerous parts capable of defending its crew from local pirates and serves as base of operations before mining colony is established. Very rare ship, since most likely production is very expensive. Probably flown by IMG faction and very rarely by rich freelancer.
IMG GB - being clearly military vessel with main purpose of defending IMG bases and patrolling in IMG space of interest. (mining colonies etc). Used by IMG, Zoners and rich freelancer.
Ravel Talon - IMG ship produced for black market. Only ship made by IMG that is clearly made for commercial uses. Very expensive. Used by Mercs and non-outcast allied pirates. (despite that isn't the case)
Viper MK I - made in small numbers by IMG also for commercial usage, but most likely for lawful side. Used by IMG, Freelancers, Zoners, civilians and non bret corporations.
This is all written in care of IMG role play (IMG as faction not CR or any other player faction).
Thing is, that there are reasons to use IMG ships out side of those lines since the mod is limited in this release for not providing better solutions.
However, first post of this thread speaks of using GB as pirate ship which is a stretch and i don't agree with that.
IMG isn't Generic faction and their ships are not generic in any way. So please dont make them generic just cause of convenience.

ugh....now i understand. I misunderstood, I didnt want to pose IMG as generic. What I said about the black market counts for all factions and not just IMG. You seee, lots of players avoid the rules by just writing something nice in their character biography, posing IMG as generic is wrong. They have great RP potentials and a wast storyline thats being extended with each passing day. This goes for all factions and when i spoke of "stealing" the ship, it does not make it "right" it simply possible.

Contradict much?
But stuff like this is why I asked if any of the people here even had an IMG character. Apparently two of you do! Kudos! *thumbs up* You have a right to be posting here since you actually know whats going on.
Trev, sorry. I misunderstood... As long as I'm not being drafted into a full blown war against Bretonia, I'm fine.:P

They're comparable to Junkers, from where I'm sitting; if they could get away with selling their ships for top-dollar to factions and gain immunity to attacks along the way, why wouldn't they? A good portion of the IMG's employees/members are probably freelancers themselves, honestly. Most IMG miners probably only do mining work when they need some extra cash, and the IMG as a faction is probably one of those groups that doesn't ask questions when you fill out your application to mine for them. They'd probably hire just about anyone to haul rocks for them, and in doing so are likely able to turn even more profit by having the ability to pay/offer whatever they want with their employment contracts.
Rumor (along these lines): "Every credit we make here we try to split between all the miners..."
False, sir. If you don't mine, and your brethren are paying your paycheck. They will kill you. They will eliminate and seal the leak in their pot of income. As well, we aren't all freelancers. Just because a rumor says,
"We don't get many freelancers around here, whats your name? My names Rick, whats your name? You know, if I see another chunk of Niobium, I'm going to puke. What's your name?"
Does not mean that every player playing an IMG is a freelancer. Game mechanics FTW!
They need Gunboats *insert repeat of last post here* to fight back the hordes of Outcasts pouring out from Alpha which is convieniently located 40K from our main Niobium base. I highly doubt they'd sell their Gunboats, many of which they produced without proper facilities, to random people to "turn profit". In the sheer amount of man-hours wasted in creating a gunboat without a proper work space (Shipyard) they could have made twice as much using those hundreds of workers mining.
