Erythnul has a point in what he says, but then again, no one else thought of making a, and i quote, "Cheesy b-flick villain" before so it's still unique and likable. It's the... "cheesyness" and the inconsistansies that bring the character to life because he's suposed to be some sort of a "horror story" spread from one mouth to another.
Aaaaanyway... I've never met the chap, but i've read the stories. (I'm sure Jameson would have some rather interesting theories about him, should they ever meet.)

i'm not sure what you mean by no sense of proportion.
i'm unaware of any illogical and inconsistant powers. in my head everything is worked out logically and as scientifically as possible within the limitations of freelancer science. please point these out so i can correct the mistakes. my guess is that i failed to explain it fully as it happened.

By "no sense of proportion", I mean that Mon'Star's impact on Sirius is inconsistent with Sirius itself. Here's a brilliant example:
Quote:Todays top story; The number of casualties all across Sirius continues to grow today from what people are calling "The Darkness", refering to the darkening of the skin caused by the ailment. The death toll is said to be around 655 million so far with more showing the early signs of the illness everyday.
This particular incident is further made absurd by the next paragraph:
Quote:There is a hope though as medical experts think they may have found a possible cause for the ailment. Dr. Timothy Howard of the Bretonian Health Dept. said that his team found that the victims had a common denominator amongst them. The victims were found to all be using the vitamin suppliment called "Refresh", which has become very popular over the last year and if these findings are true it would explain how The Darkness spread so quickly and over such a wide area of space.
DarkStar makes the same mistake:
Quote:Dark Star, leader of the Phantom Empire and mastermind of the deaths of almost 100 billion people Sirius-wide.
Dreygon you killed that many people?....OMG i am falling behind...:P
Although i never, ever met Monstar in space it would be very interesting to meet with him while i fly in my terrorist char...one can never know how that would end up...
' Wrote:I dislike Mon'Star. He's a fairly generic terrorist that draws upon the tired old "genetic experiment gone horribly wrong/superhuman" concept without innovating. The story itself has no sense of proportion - Mon'Star kills absurd amounts, his powers are illogical and frequently inconsistent, his actions aren't motivated by any form of comprehensible reason - and Mon'Star is one of dozens of characters here that twist and harm the Outcast character model. Mon'Star fails to tie into fluff or canon in any way, he receives the standard portrayal as a god amongst men, and his name and star scar are cheesy. Sort of like a B-rated sci-fi movie, or like that Pokemon movie years back, the one about Mewtwo I watched when I was seven or so.
Yeah, not my type of story. No offense meant, of course, and I have no doubt your role/gameplay is sound; I merely dislike the character's concept and exposition.
I tend to agree with pretty much everything you said above.

i know its unlogical and weird, but its the part of your charm, you're a rumored mass-murderer and rumores are supposed to be ridiculous and fun to read.
but i still feel that tampering with a popular product used across Sirus would still cause massive casualties. perhaps the number should be lowered to something more modest like 6.5 million instead
Hmmm... I met Necrosis once... I just poped out of lane near some border staton in Kusari... result was pew pew dead... I did complain since I was not aware of character as such, but after he politely pointed me towards his stories, enounter was made clear.
Character as such... Well, story has some sense, it makes perfect sense if you are sociopath, but seen from normal perspective, it is rather absurd and unnecesary. Eg. as far as human psycology goes, killing large quantity of people as vengance is unlikely, and one would go insane or kill self after some time.
Now, no story would be interesting if hero or villain is one to stand out from norm one way or another. There are about 2000-3000 of uniqe characters in disco, and compared to population of over 40 star systems that number is nothing. Now to be honest, in those 2-3k of uniqe pesonas, there are may of 10 wanting to destroy all other life? Why the hell not.
As for originality, fellas, he is uniqe type of persona and keeps it up brilliantly, your comparison to bad rate movies does not stand. If we would criticise based on "repeating of something" dont play freelancer, because whole setting is based on stereotypes.
