It's a logical problem, though. THe smuggler really shouldn't be able to dock if a cop catches him. After all, you know what happens when an NPC cop asks you to drop the cargo and you don't comply? THE DOCKING RING GOES RED, and you CAN'T DOCK!

i completely disagree with you, no offense, but you seem extremely bias towards smugglers. Anyways, the docking rings and jump gates are not run by humans, they are run by a computer, so no one is there to shut it down. Another thing its, Why would the police abruptly destroy a jump gate or trade lane, those things take a lot of time to make and cost a lot. Having police shoot them every time a new one is built would put the house in debt faster then George bush did the USA. It in fact, in my eyes. seems not very RP to do that.

it's not destroy the JG..we use shoot the JG to shut it down to repersent the police shut down the JG..

Still though, to have a fleet of officers at every jump gate and docking ring would be like martial law. How would some pirate characters be able to enter through some systems. I know that the only way from Cali-new york is through the jump gate. some pirates use it. even some smugglers. Would be unfair for the players on the unlawful side if that was happening all the time. Think, Liberty and Rhienland currently hold a blockade. But at the moment the police and naval officials have more important things to do the sit and block gates all day.

Im very surprised that the police/navy dont just patrol the jumpgates and major lane hubs. and devote fewer resources to planets and bases.

That way you have enough prescence to identify smugglers at any lawful checkpoint in the system, planet gate lane hub or base, and the major concentration at the gates will knock out 90% of the smugglers with the lane hub patrols getting another 5 and the remainder being people pegged for smuggling on a planet dock and caught on the return trip out of the system

That would be a very interesting idea. I think it would benefit the house police's as much as it would inconvenience them. Just because of the occasional abuser. It could also lead to AI congestion, although destroying tradelanes doesnt congest AI so it might not. Anyway interesting idea.

This is actually quite cool, how does it work thou? Like tradelanes? Blast at it and it disables, can you then undock? and just be unable to dock...

It's a great Idea... to stop oorp planet landing infront of lawfuls...

like all the weapon plantform...


You shoot at the weapon plantforms until their HP bar is empty..the Weapon Plantform will stop firing at you because it's not function anymore because its HP bar it's empty..use this on Docking Ring/JG..player still can undock from them but not dock on them..

Yeah, problem with your theory is smugglers never undock after, they simply say 'pwnt' then log off' (Actually, some Smugglers do RP)

This is true, i RP with Peg Leg Lenny, My smuggler. Yes, i may do the Slave cardi route, but i try my best to RP it and when i get caught in a corner, i don't cry out "no! i will; pwn you with my other characters!'' Thats why i happen to disagree with your theory X-lancer, its nothing personal. It actually would be a nice idea, but i think it will become overused and troublesome. but who am I
