Guard ID's in 4.85

As long as we only have to get the IDs, and don't have to get the Guard IFF for capships...

That would kill a lot of fun, seeing as every 2 seconds the 'battle music' would start playing for every capship you see.

Indeed...it will work like getting the NPG ID...except for the requirement to be in the faction, all you have to have is the Guard rep maxed to purchase it.

Indi capwhoring is out of control, but noone should be FORCED to join a faction if they want a cap.

Based on all the information we have so far, no one will be forced to join a faction to get a capship, they just need a maxed Guard reputation.

The ZoI restrictions are really what most people should have been playing all along. A Zoner has no business telling people what to do in a system with no Zoners, and a Rogue has no business pirating in Kusari.

Question: Will Guard IDs be allowed to escort and 'guard' faction traders, or is their job just to defend their faction space/facilities?

Ah, that's a good question, Drake. I'm eventually going to get my GMG ace a Guard IFF and such, but would that rule him out of escorting our convoys?

I'd think for factions with shipping involved, Guard IDs should still allow escort out of their immediate ZoI.

Actually, it could be argued that the cloud in Shikoku is more or less Rogue territory, as their NPCs are quite plentiful there (Gunboats even), but that is just being nitpicky on my part....

Guard IDs that allow ships above gunboat class will definitely not allow the following:

Piracy
Trading (Zoner Guard will still be allowed to trade)
Fulfilling bounty contracts (BHG Core will still be allowed to collect bounties)

There may be other changes as well, once we get into actually sorting them out. I may start on them tomorrow properly, since it seems the standard IDs are mostly done now.

Uhm, doesn't really answer the 'escort' question. Obviously I think a 'guard' ID should be able to 'guard' their own faction's traders... On the other hand, cruiser and battleship escorts are kinda silly, and extremely unfair to pirates. Might make a note on the ID card that they're only allowed to escort in gunboats or smaller.
