well, IMG's bases are all in 'deep space' (in the tau systems mostly), so I dont see a problem with it - that IS their zoi =P All it means is that you probably shouldnt see albatross BC's in the middle of liberty or kusari or rheinland. Bretonia is an iffy.

Only three of our eight (soon to be more) bases are in the Taus. We'd be doing exploration in deep space all around Sirius (and you'll notice if you check the infocard again the mention of nomads), including Gallia.
Moreover, we may in certain threatening circumstances have to send an Albie from a Tau base to another one, going through Bretonian space. We've made arrangements for that with BAF, but the ID might prohibit that sort of thing, if applied rigidly...
I seriously doubt situations like that will warrant sanctions.
It's the full reason a strict ZoI isn't being drawn up like a wall. There needs to be that fuzzy zone where exceptions can be made for situations that make perfect RP sense. Like moving one of your warships to another station.

Agreed, and I think folks will understand that. The bigger issue, though, is deep space exploration.
The rules are obviously in place so that some random player, jumping into Discovery, buying an IMG Guard ID, buying an Albie, and then wandering around aimlessly shooting things, doesn't happen.
I'm fully confident that established, trustworthy members of Discovery, and the IMG, faction or not, can perform these kind of things. They help RP thrive, and I know the admin team won't ignore that.
- work to get a Guard ID / reputation ( most likely choice )
- loose the gunboat and replace it with something else of bomber or lower class ( least likely choice )
- request a special RP char, where you explain why you must not be a guard, but still fly it ( rather unlikely, too )
in your specific case though....
merc will become freelancer. - so you ll only need to get a freelancer ID and you ll be fine. - the only ones you might get into trouble with is the liberty navy - for i m not sure if they like a freelancer to fly one of their military grade capital ships. - oh, and you ll need to work getting a freelancer tag, too ( which will be a pita )
Ah... so the merc in gunboat issue will arise will it...
A lot of mercs roleplay their GB's rather well... Would be a shame to see them go. If the Merc ID still allows gunboats, then surely certain GB's should be open to them. This may cause an issue of Merc ID spammage...
