and Quint you really should read up on it its a huge change from DOW1 at least in Single im not sure about multi yet though
Nope, two of the Primarchs weren't discovered after being scattered to the warp. In fact, Horus only makes mention of them in a Chaos induced dream.
Quote:The Primarchs were the twenty cloned sons of the Emperor, born leaders of his Space Marine legions. They were bred to be nearly perfect: larger, stronger, faster, and smarter than normal humans. Their genetic material was also used to form the basis of the legions they would command.
However, the forces of Chaos somehow spirited the children away, scattering them across the galaxy. All but two were discovered on remote worlds, where they had quickly grown to adulthood, and often held leadership of their adoptive worlds. When the Emperor found them, he gave them leadership of the Space Marine legions created from their individual genetic material.
Quote:The narratives leave two additional unnamed and undescribed First Founding Legions, Legions II and XI. In some literature the missing Primarchs and their Legions are listed as being "Deleted from Imperial records". The only information Games Workshop has ever released that directly addresses them, can be found in False Gods and The Lightning Tower (Dan Abnett).
In the Black Library Horus Heresy novel series, Horus, in a chaos-induced dream sequence, apparently goes back in time and sees the cracked incubation capsule of Primarch XI before the Primarchs are scattered to the warp (the effect this has on the Primarch is inconclusive). Before doing this, he puts his hand on XI's capsule and feels "the untapped glories that might have lain ahead for what grew within, but knowing that they would never come to pass".
However, Games Workshop has explained the gameplay purpose for these "deleted" Legions: they are available to help those who wish to develop their own, custom Legions. The basic idea is since there were 20 Legions, and half went to Chaos but half stayed loyal, that these two lost Legions would represent the same for "do-it-yourself" forces.

Like the dark eldar though
Does you have any idea how the Dark Eldar became, well, "Dark" Eldar instead of sticking with their old buddies? Or anyone for that matter? Ah wunts ta know!

Well, it all happened during the Fall of the Eldar, when Slaanesh was created due to their decadence.
Slaanesh is able to take the souls of all Eldar as they die. Normal Eldar use spirit stones to prevent this. Dark Eldar split at this point... and use much less savoury methods.

ok this next bit is for the people who like fluff
In every listing of the 20 legions in Imperial records, legions II and XI are stated as having "all records expunged from the library". Considering that the traitor legions are simply listed as excommunicate traitoris but still included in these same lists would mean that the records were deleted deliberately and for a reason only known by those who perpetrated the action.
Of the various abilities possessed by the primarchs, one was "invisibility".
If this is taken literally, this presumably refers to one of the missing primarchs, as invisibility is not a power possessed by those known.
The Emperor met each primarch in turn, and each primarch had risen to a position of authority within the cultures they had found themselves in.
20 Legions took part in the Great Crusade, each led by their own primarch.
Alpharius was known to be the last Primarch to be found, a fact which even earned him the nickname "The Last". This suggests that all the other primarchs had been found already.
20 statues of the primarchs were erected in the Imperial Palace on Terra. By the time of the Horus Heresy, plinths II and XI "...had been vacant for a long time. No-one ever spoke of those two absent brothers [and] their separate tragedies."
This suggests that the two unknown primarchs had been found previously and that something tragic had happened. The two primarchs were "absent" but not referred as "dead".
All primarchs were tempted by Chaos predations, and "fully half" of them failed that test.
This suggests that possibly 10 primarchs were, in some way, corrupted by Chaos influences. The known traitors are nine (Fulgrim, Perturabo, Konrad Curze, Angron, Mortarion, Magnus, Horus, Lorgar, and Alpharius). Whether an additional primarch was corrupted or not is unclear.
Horus convinced "no less than 9" Space Marine Legions to side with him at the onset of the Heresy, a number also referred to as "fully half" of the legions. When he assaulted Terra, this number was given as 9.
This also implies, but does not categorically states, that the 9 known traitor legions are all of the legions that followed him into rebellion and that 18 legions were the total number of legions active at the time. A passage detailing Horus' plans for the various legions at the outset of the Heresy mentions by name all 18 known legions.
"Of the original 20 Primarchs only 9 survived the Horus Heresy. The remainder were either killed in the fighting or fled...into the Eye of Terror."
It is currently accepted that 3 Primarchs died during the Heresy (Ferrus Manus, Sanguinius, and Horus) and 6 are known to have fled into the Eye of Terror (Fulgrim, Perturabo, Angron, Mortarion, Magnus, and Lorgar). The fates of the other 11 are open to multiple interpretations.
Two traitors, Kurze and Alpharius, did not flee into the Eye of Terror and were killed later on. 7 loyal primarchs seem to have survived. It is possible that Kurze and Alpharius were counted as part of the 9 survivors.
I don't really know what to think about the Tyranids as a new race.
I have the same problem with them that I had with the introduction of the Necrons in Dark Crusade: I just can't really tell what kind of unit I see.
Is it "infantry" or "vehicle", is it good against infantry or vehicles/buildings etc.
That has to be clear without studying the race for hours.
Furthermore there will only be a Space Marine campaign again. No Orks, no Eldar campaign :*(
And no base building in SP, but in MP. I wonder how that will work.
From what I've seen in the videos there is some...how should I say..."harshness" missing, especially in the sync-kills. When that SM commander jumps on the Ork's head and beats him dead with his hammer there is not enough *BAM!* as it is in DOW. (Force Commander beats Bloodthirster for example).
But I really like the new effects, especially the new bolter effects. And there is nothing needed to say about the cover system from CoH which they will use - that'll be awesome, too.
If the boys from Relic don't mess things up I think we will see a very good strategy game in early 2009.
I'm guessings its just like you can see in the gameplay vids. You have a small group, nothing more, maybe gain a few marines along the way but that's final. So, no full out assaults. That's probaply saved for any possible expansions, just like they did with the first DoW. Shame about the "U can onleh has marine campaign" part though. Still, worth a shot.

Baneblade is crap, it doesn't do anything other than make new players poo themselves when it rolls into their base:PReally, just surround it with three or so basic Ork squads, and you'll find it can't move and is left helpless due to the game engines inability to run untils over.
' Wrote:Damn it! Im still awaiting the Necrons to come into it all. Then you'l all be pwned Da'am K'avosh style.
They arrived as a playable race in Dark Crusade, although you first see them in the last level of winter Assualt, although they're on the sharp end of the stick that's trying to jab them back to the crypt that time. You can no play them in WA.

YUs, they are. They arrived as a playable race in Winter Assualt, and have been a feature ever since. I have often theorised on the concept that is you found someone with a bad CPU, you could just flood them with IG units and laugh as their RAM melted and harddrive exploded.
' Wrote:Ugh... Chaos marine history is long one.
Tehnically, they used to be most loyal of marines... and one day, imperium found gateway to warp. Warp there is secondary dimension, one so twisted and wicked that no normal human can even gaze upon it and remain sane. 13 marine chapters were sent in eye of terror to end chaos(creatures and gods native to warp) from attacking Imerium. For long time, there was only silence and no reply from those legions... untill one day they descended on imperial worlds... twisted mockery of their former glory, ravaging in slaughter, gore and pain.
Thats short of it.
And Legion og the damned is either chaos marine chapter, or deamon army. Since all of 4 chaos gods have their uniqe deamon servants, and they form armies of them to send upon mortal plane.
And nah, I played for a few years as well, and Chaos Legions were not formed by marching the founding Legions into the Warp, they did that to themselves later on.
The chaos gods whispered to the Primarches they considered to be more suspetible to their blatherings, namely Horus, the Emperor's Warmaster and right hand man.
Horus then convices half the Primarches to turn their Legions on the Emperor, causing the Age of the Imperium. Horus purposefully attacked while the Ultramarine Legion was on the other side of the Galaxy seeing as Horus knew that the Ultramarine Primarch was the only one other than the emperor that could probably beat him in martial prowness and tactical skill.
The Tratior Legions fall on Terra, Emperor takes the fight to Horus, Horus dies, Emperor fatally wounded, etc, etc. To stop the Primarches from weilding such extreme power in the future (absolute power corrupts absolutly the saying goes) the Legions were each divided into Chapters of 1000 marines.
As for the Legion of the dammed, the entire Chapter was lost during a warp jump, aswas assumed lost. The chapter reappeared centuries/millenia later all corpsefied and disease ridden, possesing the power to fase in and out onto the battlefield, so far as the lore goes. On the tabletop it just gives them the ability to Deep Strike into battle (you can choose where to deploy them on the table).
And yah, partially reliable lecture over:P
Oh, and there's a Tyranid mod for DC as well! I haven't downloaded it yet, but I might give it a try soon.
