It is a mess.
So far we've established that
a. it is a mess
b. it is a mess
c. it might be divided further into lawful and unlawful sections
d. it should not just be about bounties
e. it is a mess
If there are only so many threads available for viewing then move to the next page?
Bounty limits? Well , any bounty that doesn't get a bump within thirty days gets hidden.
Any ideas on merging them to reduce the number of pinned ones?

I can support the idea of a Bounty Board that exists as a separate forum within the Roleplaying forum. Subdividing forums that are already subdivisions is likely to make things more complicated, though, not less. Simply putting in the topic description the factions or classes of factions that may collect the bounty is efficient enough.
I'm not at all convinced that pinning bounty threads is a solution to anything. If they aren't being used then they don't deserve to stay visible.

I'm not sure the bounties are all that much of a mess. What I do think, is it could stand a separate board for bounties, and then one for the other stuff, like the player quests and declarations of mercenaries for hire.
I'm willing to go through them and produce a list of total bounties from all the pinned ones, and where to post to collect...
Also, the mess of the bounty board, as it appears to me, is caused mostly by they bontyers being unwilling to pay X, Y or Z pilots. While this makes sense...It doesn't make anything any simpler. I'm willing to pay anyone who kills people I want dead. Always have been.
Right now, I'm looking at making a page on my spreadsheet for every faction that can accept bounties, with the bounties payable to that faction on the page. It seems the simplest way to do it. Nothing will be simple. There is no way to make this simple, just less cumbersome.
Also, the Lawful/unlawful split is somewhat..rediculous. Because there are many unlawful factions at war with one another, as there are lawful...so it doesn't really help. I've already just tried.

Here's what I'd suggest.
A separate sub-forum just for bounties. That would free up the Employment Office for other things, and it would be good to see that aspect of player interaction getting some room to breathe.
Sub-dividing any further is going to be even more confusing.
Once a job is done that the original poster posts a message saying closed. The thread gets locked then. Any bounty dead/locked for thirty days gets made invisible. Anything dead for over two months gets deleted. That should remove a lot of the stuff. Problem is, with the requirement that there be an actual bounty for some people to do their killing in game, removing bounties could potentially cause all sorts of heartaches. This needs more thought.
Say, for example, the Liberty Navy puts a bounty on cardamine smugglers. That hasn't received a bump in a while, but people use it as the justification to kill a few smugglers. But because they never claim the bounty the thread could just vanish and they could get a sanction.
I will talk to leaders of some of the lawful and unlawful groups about merging their standing bounties into a single thread.
I'll leave some posting guidelines pinned. And maybe the Most Wanted one, as it includes some well-known terrorists.
For posting bounties the title could include things like jurisdiction (some lawful faction bounties set limits), whether it is a lawful or unlawful bounty. Not everyone can take the unlawful jobs.
Although frankly, anyone should be able to tell that from reading the bounty anyway.
Until we finally figure this out, I'll unpin the faction set ones in the Employment Office.
How about putting into all the threads sub-titles in the employment office OPEN or CLOSED? And require them from the poster in the guidelines too?
Then people could see straight away if the bounty/job is indeed still valid or not without having to potentially read through 7 pages and miss the one small announcement of the changed terms.
Or even better idea. Only the bounties be collectable on the terms laid out in the original post? If terms would change over time the bounty placer would have to edit the first post to reflect the situation. And not have the changed terms in somewhere page 5.
And remind the bounty placers in guide lines to edit the sub-title to CLOSED status if the job is not valid anymore?
This would neatly organize the section once the style of posting like catches root.

I believe that bounties, or at least, the big ones, are closed if inactive for over a month.
I think there should be one pinned thread with links to all the permanent bounty boards (BAF, BPA, RM, LPI, OC, Corsair, etc.), instead of pinning all the bounty boards.
