Quote: Eppy, as much as you were saying that you had to design the Destroyer due to it being your ship line and all... That looks very little like the rest of the ship line.
Incorrect. I would very much like to present the final Destroyer model, but that's irrelevant. I am opposed to Xing's model because I don't think it fits the rest of the fleet and I feel it fouls the desirable handling of the current Destroyer. I have attempted to keep the Destroyer's basic silhouette as best I can whilst making a...real...warship.
And actually this DOES look like my other models. It incorporates all of the same design elements. The leading edges are all the same, it has the engines, the ridges, the spoilers, the superstructure, ALL of it. The difference is the base design. Let me demonstrate:
That is a rough approximation of the silhouette I have to fill. The Dreadnought (my personal favorite and the most complex of the lot) has the easiest hull to fill; it can be roughly approximated to a cylinder. The Battleship, which was built without predetermined requirements, features a fancy of mine, namely, the double hull. So, it's not so much a cylinder as it is a pair of rectangular prisms stacked on top of each other with space in between and raised wing-things and superstructure.
The Destroyer is not like this. The Destroyer is a flaaaaat rectangular prism. It's difficult to fit a ship into that on FL's scale, and I think, considering, that I've done a fair job. so, of course it's not going to come out looking like it's a cylinder; it's not a constant theme in the design. I work with what I have.
EDIT: Hmm. Maybe people would be more amenable if I tried to go back to a Catamaran design:D

Anyways, here she is. Spruced up the back end a bit, tossed on another set of fins, tossed on a radar scanner type thingy, slimmed the front a bit so it doesn't look so much like the brick, and kicked my processor when it whined too much. I'll be sending it to Seth ASAP, whilst working on it myself; let's see what we can come up with.
EDIT: And ignore the divided polys, they don't show up IG. Stupid render.
