What was the point of this in the first place, please explain ? Did the mutual respect between the Corsair and
the Outcast players suddenly evaporate while none of were looking ?
I personally have witnessed no problems recently between any of the players, certainly not the five other
major factions involved in this ... What problems do the 101st suddenly have ? Inability to communicate ?
We don't need any more rules when players can be trusted to be fair, or can't you be trusted any more ?
Please don't poke when there is nothing to gain, you may find things being looked at when there is no need.
Harsher measures are reserved for those who lack the common sense and decency to see the premise of
this, not for our members who have been here some considerable time, and in fact, should know better.

I'm not going to bloody poke where there's nothing to gain, what I see here is a degradation of a Different Kind of Common Sense (you know, the one where you actually try to win), and I'd thank certain authority figures stop assuming my faction is the one with the problem. The vibe I'm getting is that we'ew about to have to file invoices to bloody open fire with a force anything more than marginally larger than our opponents, and that if we intend to use any large force at all I am now going to be required to file a similar invoices. I'd like assurance that this is not the case, and so far the response I'm getting is very vague, but also suggestive that my suspicions are unfortunately correct.

That's all you need.
Agreed.
If you do want to raid any system, do it with a variety of ships. No more than a battleship. A cruiser or two, if you wish, gunboats are a yes, so long as they aren't packing missiles, but do bring bombers and fighters.
What we seem to be lacking is a gentleman's rule. If you have enough caps, switch to a fighter.
The only reason I can see this being real bad is that the server crashed because of it [or a modder. >_>].

What 'vibe' Eppy ? Do you know something no one else does ? Stop making mountains out of molehills ...
There are no 'Reds under the bed' to find here. There is no conspiracy for you to unearth.
I see no worries from the RoS, The SOB, The Brotherhood, Benitez, and The OPG, leading me to one
conclusion unfortunately. You are the only one left. Basic mathematics ...
If and God forbid when, you need to file anything, I will personally make sure you are at the head of
the 'First to know List'.

Actually, that's the most common sense thing I've seen here, and the one I find the most agreeable, because that's actually how it SHOULD be played.
If you're going to have 10 players all decided to invade somewhere - let 'em. Do it right and actually role play a FLEET. 1 flagship battleship, 1 escort cruiser, 3 gunboats, 3 bombers, 2 fighters. Heck, bring in a repair ship and a couple of armored transports loaded with 'troops' for your raid and/or invasion.
Someone coming in for a 'raid' with 2 gunboats and 4 escorting fighters/bombers IS something that we should see happening - and those don't have to be announced, it'd be like a commerce raid (sort of like the Bismark / Prinz Eugen thing from WWII)
Gentlemen'e rule indeed.

Kurosara's numbers are a bit low, especially considering he was the one that got kicked from the 101st some weeks ago for instigating up to four raids a day, often composed largely of indie Destroyers.
But, since Jes has plainly stated that I won't need to file an invoice for the Outcasts to launch assaults them I'm perfectly happy, and I intend to exercise that right frequently come a month or two. We the Outcasts need to get our war on again.

And I suggest you say something less easily interpreted as sarcasm and more obviously apparent as an apology and a pledge to work towards everyone's enjoyment on the server if you want out of Bastille anytime soon, which would also require you posting your character name, because they are staying in there until each of them asks to get out.
Quote:A lot of the responses I'm seeing here, seem to be along the lines of "But why should I have to tell them I'm bringing a fleet, all I want to do is stomp them into the floor" That's not the attitude to take, this is, above and beyond all else, a game. I don't sling hordes of armed goons at my player team in a table top RP game, why would I do the same to my opponents in an online one? I want them to have as much fun as me, I want the congratulatory PM's after the fight. What I don't want is the ones that whine at me. And the best way to avoid those is to play fair. Fun should be there for all to have, no matter the diplomacies of your respective factions, you are NOT a real Outcast and your opponent is NOT a real Corsair, you are both people trying to have fun in your spare time. Consider that first.

Ok, so i clock in for my shift on Guard duty, i spend a few minutes checking systems and preparing my gunboat for flight. On a quick check of long range scanners, no obvious hostiles in system.
Launch initiated. See space. Localized scanner alarms go crazy. Two hostiles, incomming fire...
...Outcast battleship parked in crete orbit about 2-3k up with 1 fighter for support. Fighter targeted, its nearly destroyed as i attempt to dodge fire from the battleship. Eventually i take too much damage and must eject my pod as my gunboat is torn apart.
OOC: It should be common respect, not to attack a home planet with battleships unless its a planned event; Either in-game or on-forum. "Of course you know, this means war. Bugs Bunny"
Large fighter OR capships battles, and most of the smaller skirmishes between opposing factions should take place in the systems inbetween or atleast away from dockables. I hate people who "camp" and shoot the first thing that undocks.
As far as battles between Corsairs / Outcasts... This is what ETA is for!
Shameless Plug/Idea from a while back:
1. Move the Jumpholes accordingly.
2. Add the new Corsair base/dockable dread and turn the derelict station into a new Freeport.
3. Thin out the Minefield or turn it into a scrap field.
4. Put Missions on each respective base;
- Corsair missions in the system against Outcasts.
- Outcast missions in the system against Corsairs.
- Bounty hunter Missions from the Freeport against both Corsairs and Outcasts.
My reasoning behind this is that by now the Corsairs should have sent a dread or two into ETA and or put up massive weapons platforms around the Theta Jumphole in Gamma to stop the constant raids.

"Then you clearly haven't been on those massively dissapointing raids where you get there and you find no-one there. Or six people get raped by the full scale invasion fleet and then rightfully ask"What the hell was that dude?".
I trust that people will be fair minded enough to get a defence fleet out that at least in some way matches the fleet cming down. -That- is why I warn people. Because I like good fights. Not crappy massively one sided fights. Be I on the winning or loosing side."
Those two quotes have the most meaning in this conversation for me. Yes Joe, I have been involved on those raids. The problem was, I was one of the six!:(
As far as I'm concerned, the fleet could have been twice the size, if there was enough corsairs on to have a good fight. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that five BC's vs 5 Titans is a non starter. Just look it up on the chat screen. If there isn't, don't go. I'm not sure you have to announce it or even ask, just look it up.
The only problem I saw for the BH in Gamma the other night was the 'in Gamma' bit. If they had been in Kappa and said 'Hey guys', it might have been different. They might have been attacked for just being there anyway. Thats actually quite likely. To be fair to them, they didn't attack Crete and stood back hoping the corsairs would muster and they could all have a big fight. It wasn't to be, which I think is a shame but there you go.

"Incidentally fair does NOT mean balanced. IF you're attempting a full scale invasion, yes warn them first. It makes the fight more engaging for both sides. If it's a normal raiding force then look at the chatboard see what's there and scale your invasion to fit. You don't have to equalize forces. Putting forth a force which has a 90% chance of winning, but can be beaten by what is there is dandy. A challenge is fun as well. Hell I've participated in raids on both sides of that war and not won any of them, but I had fun being pasted across the system"
The bit about 90% chance of winning....maybe not 90 but I like the way thats going. If you have no real chance, it's depressing to the point that you can't be bothered to log on with that character, if at all. It may take more than once but if it keeps happening, you'll just not bother in the end.
The bottom line is, it's got to be fun. If it's not you'll switch off. Then it's not fun for him either. The pair of you might as well play SP so use common sense and think "Would I like this to be done to me?"

HEY! That's not fair. I was kicked from your faction and I was only there for TWO raids. Be happy I was flying a bomber. People change Eppy, but apparently you don't.
Besides, this isn't about me, this is about fair play. I didn't specify the numbers of fighters bombers or gunboats, but never once did any of those raids take more than one battleship. The second one I was in was all fighters and bombers.
Bite me, Eppy.

Put words in my mouth again, I will ground the lot of you ... Its not a bloody right old son, its a privilege,
remember that. You will follow the already seemingly workable relationship that is in place please.
Threatening that sort of thing on the forums will achieve very little, but getting people's hackles up.
