Idea: get a gunboat ,
or are they banned from smuggler killing too?
if not, i'm sure the weapons are strong enough to kill a whale or a Pi train
otherwise get a bomber, and use the dread to intimidate nooby newbs, or farm LR or somthing...
' Wrote:Alright, that's true, but isnt Z-21 patrolled by caps constantly because of it's high security status, I mean I just think smugglers shouldnt go through there, cause they'll get blown up.
Yes there are cap npc's in Alaska, but there are also lots of Order Battleships too, I would think that the Navy caps would be more interested in battling the clearly hostile battleships in there, not chasing little transports that are of very very little threat to them.
Exactly, Thats what they should be worried about.
But yet - they remain trying to get at those smugglers and traders importing cargo to liberty.
Yes, Their breaking a law entering Alaska. But, yet their are worse things going thoughout the system as well. You wait, That shipyard next to that jumpgate in alaska . . . KAPPOOFF! because they are worried about traders and not that station or civilian protection.
' Wrote:Simply put. You can't attack traders with your cap. Firing a CD counts as an attack, and using a game exploit seems like extremely bad form. Then to make it so the only way people can get you out of the way is to commit a violation, well thats just a little low really.
With regards to my own feelings on the alaska situation. It's guarded. Heavily. People don't go in there without prior permission and come out alive. That is integral to the roleplay of liberty and is something the liberty lawful factiosn attempt to uphold.
Isn't the problem with capships spinning when rammed being removed in 4.85? if so the rule of no ramming is pointless and can be removed. In which case, we are back to just blocking and not being "forced" to ram?
Either way I believe its their choice to ram or not to.
Iâll carry this flag

' Wrote:Well, we shouldnt let a game limitation hamper RP.. and whether you like it or not, a capship blocking a gate, lane or docking ring is incredibly in RP.. heck.. it could even make for some good RP. (not with the mindless OORP smugglers, but with others)
It's a shame when everything begins and ends with either proximal floating roleplay or ENGAEGING, though of course I highly prefer the former. Using battleships to block other ships can still be done as things are now, as long as both sides agree to roleplay it out, though if the rules and mod demostrate a bit more accomodation for it then all the better.

Yes, it would be lovely if some jumpgates would only open for certain IDs.
Adding ways to limit OoRP behavior and provide more venues for good RP is a Very Good Idea and More Or Less What Discovery Should Be About®, as far as my perspective of the whole thing is (that goes for the previous quote as well). If that means improving the "Freelancer realism," that's just splendid.
It does feel, however, like the Admins shouldn't be burdened with a discussion about these things until they have had the opportunity to take a breath or two from 4.85. Maybe in a month or two? I think it merits a discussion, though.

To the contrary Zelot, there are -lots- of things in Alaska that the Liberty government is very interested in making sure no one observes.
On a vaguely related note, the infocard says that unauthorised ships are destroyed on sight. In terms of server rules, is a lawful required to make a demand in a similar fashion to a pirate, or can they blow up a transport "for being there" (naturally within the rules governing no caps, level requirement, etc.)
As for complaints about not being able to use a cap to enforce policy, I again refer you to the Dragons and the marked lack of calls for them to be able to engage traders on caps in CHugoku.
Ok here it is since i already had one post on this today. Even though i as a smuggler is not suppose to know routes like alaska exist i am going to go exploring regardless. if u sit in front of the gate whoopde doo ure an idiot for doing so using game mechanics to piss everybody off fine here is an idea.
u wana stop me that back space cruise disruptors till u can call for somebody who can kill me or stop me. 40 trips now i have made through that gate 90% of them time lns lpi swat alot of them are on if u care about it that mutch stay on the other side of the gate and cd them to death im shure somebody will come evuentally they aint going but 3 possible locations Texas jump gate Manhattan or ronchester don't be a tard in front of a gate please if i want to be a pain i can lock up a jump hole for 4 minutes while my comrades escape with there goods but i dont i do it the right way. Get off ure Defensive ship get on a gunboat bomber what not sit on the other side and ure good to go. Smugger will always find the best way to go ne where Expecially when ure like me and have no offilitation ill take the risk of coming to new york seeing as how ive yet to be stopped. Get off ure EGO SHIP get on something smaller so u can stop me or stop frigging QQing panzy.
End of Rant.
Edit Befor u call me a power trade / smuggler my route is a 3 step route that takes me full circle littertly half way around sirius more than 20 systems alaska is just the icing on the cake.
http://signavatar.com/15890_s.gif First: You've got a picture in there that's 800x286 pixels. The maximum signature size is 700x250.
Second: Your other picture in the rotation fills the full 700x250 boundaries by itself.
With an image that big, you can't fit any text below it. Please fix this.

A sane man must become insane to look sane
In an insane world.
When the smugglers stop speed docking at lawful bases with 5000 units of cardamine/slaves/artifacts/etc. after a lawful has said in system chat that the docking ring / docks / lane / etc. have been shut down... well, then we'll talk about how fair this is.
I'm sorry, but most traders and smugglers on the server nowdays are in it for the money and they dont give a rat's backside about RP. By running their cargo right next to a battleship going "haha, you cant shoot me!", they're just asking to be blocked off at the gate and forced to take another route.
So yes, liberty dreads, PLEASE blockade the alaska->ny jump gate. Make those powersmugglers take an extra half an hour or longer to go all the way around through rheinland or kusari to get their cargo where it can sell for a decent amount. You're doing the server a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

And you're using an OORP server rule to make money without effort.
