I also don't particularly like the way the eagle looks.

The Falcon on the other hand is the perfect build of the Civi line, make a Mrk II Falcon and I'd make a char to fly it in a second.

The RT has amazing gunpoints. They're all in the center of the ship, giving a very concentrated line of fire. My Freelancer uses one. I. LOVE. IT.

I would recommend the eagle too as a replacement for your viper. Go for it, I'm sure you'll love it. The only point against is if you've played vanilla-fl for a long time you might be annoyed by the way it looks.
