I dont see 20 topics (in the last month) started about how bad code weapons are, but heaven forbid people EVER use missiles!
Simple put: if your willing to sacrifice a gun for a limited shot weapon like missiles, then you bloody well hope it does more damage than a energy gun.
Codes are harder to use.

It would be better if the Sidewinder was better tracking, the cannonball was less, and paralyzer was about the same as cannonball. I dont know, Sidewinder sounds like it should be faster. But missles are becoming more prominant, ive been seeing a lot more 2 Missle LF's (ussualy one paralyzer and one Cannonball)
Quote:@Orin: The problem isn't really with missile spammers. A player who uses it sparingly in the right moment to take a large extra chunk of your hull is much more of a problem. Even a CD wouldn't protect you. The problem is, that fighters are almost always better off with a missile in place of a gun on one slot.
Quote:Either way, as I said, it's completely manageable. With CBs, I've never gotten hit with one while I dedicate my tactics to evasive.
Of course, if you dedicate all your tactics to evasive, you'll just be getting raped with guns, while doing no damage yourself. If you decide to try and shoot them, you'll get a cannonball landed on your hull.
On a bomber, it's quite easy to counter missiles: SNAC the fighter. You can dodge missiles like a maniac in a bomber, because you don't have to be shooting at the guy continuously to kill them. One shot is all it takes.
Can't quite do that on a fighter, you're forced to absorb all the missiles, if you actually want to damage them.

LF's lack the plant to sustain heavy fire and they can't mount paras.
But they can mount neutralizers.

Some LF's have level 9 slots? Oh YEAH! Paralyzer is 10. Thats good, otherwise they would really be whored.
Then again, maybe cannonballs need to be nerfed? It would be nice if there were some level 9 fast-ish tracking (agile) and medium damage, to fill the gap.

One, no, evasive maneuvers don't get you raped by guns if you have clue what you're doing. And you can still very well deal damage while being evasive. Notice I never said to stop attacking while being evasive, you just have to keep yourself elusive. Hit and runs, pulling out sporadically, using anchor turns to give yourself different angles. It might not be the easiest thing to do, but that's what adapting means.
Regardless, I'm not talking about bombers, and never have, in this discussion. I've used missiles against players, I've had them used against me. This is what I see and experience daily, and there's nothing wrong with it. Just because something is different or difficult to deal with doesn't mean "Nerf it!".
Edit: The severe downside of missiles here is that in comparison to guns, you can do whatever you like to avoid fire, but when you go back into the total offensive, you have to deal with the same thing. With missiles, and especially Paralyzers, you can make your opponents cripple himself. Not to mention while playing it evasive, you'll end up with an enemy who has less guns than you once the ammo stores that aren't very illustrious are depleted.
Again, adapt. Don't nerf because a handful of people scream at it.
I fought an LSF Upholder and an LN Avenger in my Barghest earlier.
My loadout:
3x Sammaels
1x Sidewinder
2x Thoth turrets (Because I hate empty slots)
1x Starkiller torpedo
1x Supernova
1x Train CD
1x Nuclear Mine
Versus:
One Avenger with a Para+CB, debs, and Vengeances. (didn't have time to scan guns, sorry mate)
One Upholder with...Something. Had no time to check, but I do know it had a SNAC.
Nearly got them both, but the missiles really do a number once your shields are gone.
Were there no missiles involved, I think it would easily have been a day of LR-Dun.Try.Dis.At.Home 5, Lawfuls 0.

I agree though, that missiles do tend to remove any advantage from people using full guns.
