I think I just solved the "creepy aura" effect you are looking for. Look at a Nomad Battleship. See the glowy cylinder effect in the front section of the ship? Oh yeah.. Take that same effect, re-color it, and slap it around the Necrosis. Bam! Cool, creepy aura. And the best part? No lag (Shouldn't have any, I'm pretty sure).

I think the ship's current model is fine as-is with that re-texture. We just need some cool effects, like custom engines, smoke, and an "aura," an effect like a green/black cloud surrounding the Necrosis, using the effect that is on the nomad battleship as a base for said "aura."

I've always been a fan of making a ship look like it's been through hell. Make it black, glow red, with random shards of the ship breaking off. That's my two cents.
It needs a forward gun that looks like some crazy ass spike, and some open spots in the hull, like the Slave liner.
And maybe some red textures with a bit of a spraypaint effect near the open wounds.

Dark Matter Cloud for the Necrosis anyone??
Those 3 and maybe 2-3 others work as graphic effects. mainly resembling shields.
If a Dark Matter Cloud could be made into an ALE graphic effect, I could easily do the ini pieces to have it equipable onto the Necrosis.
I'd suggest maybe a 3-5k cloud with a fairly clear area as you get within 1k of the ship (Kind of like the exclusion area for the LR Base you destroy in one of the first SP Missions)
*shrug* itd fit.... keeping the ship, and its escorts if any, concealed, hidden.
Would be unique... which is practically what this ship is. (Not like your going to see a Necrosis Second Generation with a Battleship design.)
Edit: Itd be a rather small cloud. Not a full sized nebula of course, something the size of the 2nd screen would work nicely. Now that I look at the first screen closer in comparison to the ship it is rather large.

1) Scientifically, you could create it, but it sounds (RP'd) more like a magic type thing and meh.
2) Might confussle the noobies. I mean moving clouds = ???? and OOC chatter.
I say just keep with making it bad ass and make it look barely functional. Not like I'm telling you what to do, but it would look pretty! (Kinda)
