The rule is not in the post you've quoted but, in the forum there are already many threads discussing the topic... at least 3 just in the last two week. For instance, please, read Wolf posts in Manhattan Bar Thread. And as I've already said, since admin are not paid it's quite unfair to pretend they update continuosly the unique thread you seem to be interested to read.
Heheheh...ok,ok, hoisted upon my own petard:) 1 point, however, not all in community read everything and the "unique thread" is the go-to document advertised in our sector. However, I shall refrain from playing devils advocate.

If you can't be bothered to read your ID to see what ship restrictions
and extra rules are listed in it... thats your problem.
After all, though why this has to be pointed out yet again, ignorance is no excuse.

If you have read my previous posts you would see my point was ya can do it if you vaporize target and scoop up debris-field. Pirates in Cap-ships, however, cannot demand blackmail payments for free passage. But, I can take a trader apart piece by piece according to infor-card. However, all this is moot since the forum posts dictate otherwise, and that is my other point. A noob has to search far and wide for such pronouncements and if they only go by advertised (in the game) document of server rules such enlightenment is not to be found.
I've read your point. But to my ears it sounds like playing around the rules. What you've done it's just a rhetoric exercise. You cannot expect any rule to be stated in a way that sound perfectly cristalline to everybody... at least because many people are not english native speakers and since they will translate the rules in their onw native language there will ever be some fuzziness with respect to rules; since translation it's not a pure logical science.
But if you apply a normal person's common sense your point is completely void. Destroy somebody with the unique objective of looting his cargo it's piracy on any dictionary you can buy: no matter the language. So, anybody willing to display a basic correctness will not do it. And, please, do not confuse charachters with players. These rules apply to players and only indirectly to charachters: it does not matter if you play a corsair, a terrorist, a toy-seller or a journalist; the rule against pirating in CapS apply in the same way to everybody. And just to be clear: a player that play around the rules in the way you suggest is not a pirate... he is a cheater!... at least in his essence.

Lump Lorry, greetings
1st my last post was in respone to marauder's, and his point on being lazy & I pressed point the IDs are not clear & rules easily available.
2nd your right.
3rd your implications are insulting if meant for me.
Also, I hated and still hate how the Infocard reads in paratheses "(limited)" for capships on pirate IDs. Why can't we just put:
Pirating in captial ships such as destroyers, frigates, cruisers, and battleships is STRICTLY prohibited.
That would cut down on the people who walk in and say, "Well, I didn't scan him for cargo, but I demanded cargo, so its OK." and make things A LOT clearer.

Do you mean the "cheating" part? You can be sure. It's NOT aimed at you personally. It's just to say that the Devil's defense you suggest it's exactly what I would expect to hear from a generic cheater, after he would had already broken the rules and he would have been jumping around looking for some kind of justification just to avoid fines. Since, I'm quite confident about it, you've never pirated anybody using a CapS and thus you don't need any fake justification, then that implication is not aimed at you but just at your Devil's defense to show you how weak is your line of discussion.

We all know the ID cards are somewhat ambigious at times when stating what is allowed and what isn't.
HOWEVER.. When the Admins set their foot down and bark an order.. In the server rules or not, you do not question it. Admin word is more or less the law in the server, especially when we're trying to keep things fair and friendly for everyone.
After several incidents regarding large capital ships being used by pirates to demand cargo out of large trains, a few of us debated why this is being allowed.
I think the IDs (at least, the wording says to me) that you CANNOT use these vessels for pirating. You can use them to engage in Bounty hunting, Military Operations on the Unlawful side.. but you CANNOT use them for pirating, hence the "limited" in parathesis beside each item. Anything bigger than a gunboat is considered unbalanced to the pirating world.
General rule of thumb: Anything bigger than a gunboat should never be used for piracy.
And the general definition of Terrorism is to shoot first, ask questions later. No warning. Piracy, you're required to demand cargo/money before you *EVER* attempt to kill them.
