Why not join the consortium Dreygon? We could always use a super crazy cyborg:P
..of coarse i think we.. have 1 or 2 of those already..
Aside from that i like your Idea as well.. now let me read through all 2 pages and ill edit my post again..
I have a robot merc called IG-88 which basically does the same thing that you described in your first post but i haven't been able to devote alot of time to that character.
Ive had enough of disco for now. I might be back at the next mod release.
The idea itself has a lot of merit, and I've still not seen one decent argument against it.
Save for the 'We don't need it'.
We don't need anything, my friends, yet we have much.

I share the belief that there is place for AI roleplay in Freelancer, even if it means "playing a decoration" (which isn't the case) because AI is as "si-fi" as one can get.
All Robots are NOT AI's.
Artificial Intelligence assumes some form of intelligence, not just basic programming.
A robot going 'Beep beep beep' and just that, nothing else, is not an AI. It is just a robot.
Robots can be supplied with AI's to allow them to move about manually instead of digitally.
So while you can have 1 Billion robots lying around, AI's are meant to be incredibly complex.
When a robot is put into a room (somehow) with only one door and no windows given the task to leave the room.
Lets say that robot does not know with a door is or how its used but while interacting with that strange object it ultimately completes its goal by opening it.
That is AI, normal vending-machine robots don't do that ;)
I support this idea, and am following its development with interest.
AI in the form of I Robot and the Matrix are far more interesting and can have most of the character flaws inherent in human beings.
I say go for it and I shall be more than happy to lend a hand where I can.

i'm actually full of too many thoughts...hehe
anywho, like i said before it's in the very early stages of development and i wanted to "test the waters" before i actually took it too much further...if i even do.
just some rough thoughts....
shipwise, since they are a fledgling society, they have no other need for anything other than freighters. the freighters would provide the only need they have in the beginning, materials.
as they grow i'm sure at some point more needs will arise. i doubt they will be able to stay passive and will eventually have a need for defensive ships.
really depends on how their interactions with other factions go.
EDIT: i think the HW ships fit robots well. would probably stick to them for the most part.
' Wrote:the robots come to think of the first robot as their god and leader, thusly making the society a religious based one.
Just an idea. While the robotic community thrives and newer generations of robo-worshipers are produced the "first" becomes out-dated but still in charge, thus making it difficult for some conservative ideals to fade away.
Lets say that the "first" wanted to evolve, that ideal would be impossible to stop as long as the worship they "first". Same would be with other "obsessions" such as exploration, expansion and etc...
