The name is secondary, the location is the real problem.
I actually think Okinawa is a very fitting name for the system, it being a tiny island and former independant kingdom quite a swim from mainland Japan.
You could compare it with Orkney (Bretonia not being allowed to physically claim it, with it now being regarded as a borderworld).
Orkney is also an island a bit off the mainland (houses ALL of Britains Nuclear submarines, and all of the nuclear deterant of the UK, minor point).
Similar to Orkney, but I think it is possible the GMG would have named it.
' Wrote:And about the sovereignty issue; GMG were the first lawfuls to discover the system and were fully able to build a station and claim it before anyone else found it. This situation is completely different from Orkney. Orkney was claimed by BAF, who found it, before anyone had a base or claim there. Okinawa was found and settled by GMG before KNF found out about it, and thats why they were able to get sovereignty. But its not an easy thing to hold on to. Kusari is obviously going to do everything it can to get control, from economic pressures on GMG, political pressure, or even ultimatums. That is to be played out by the players, not the NPCs, because I want players to have a say in how systems progress.
Edit: To clarify, I just put this in for completeness. I think the name shouldn't have to change, and yes it is very fitting!
' Wrote:Dusty, the Jien Kogen account gets used in discussions about Kusari, and as my other Kusari character is in the process of retirering, you wont be hearing much about Kusari from my other account. But since you need to play that game, and I havent kept it a secret, thank you Dusty, I will be forced to state the obvious... Emperor Kogen is Zelot. Thanks Dusty for ruining yet one more thing here in Disco for me.
That's cool and all, but I wrote an entire post just for you and it's a shame you never read it:(

I said it before, enough about the Jien account.
Bacon, Zelot, Orin, and Prowler have posted feedback about these ideas. (Sorry if I left anyone out) Edit: & Benjamin!

Well I am loathe to put in any opinion as I tend to find this system a very touchy subject.
I have been watching every thread on Okinawa as it presents a great opportunity for Kishiro Technologies.
We are still in a damage contol mindset with our roleplay as with the transition from 4.84 to 4.85 90% of our roleplay had to be simply ignored as that is what the mod developers had in mind.
When it comes to Okinawa we are in a waiting period, simply waiting till all the vocal components of this problem work out between themselves and the mod developers what they are after and what can be implemented.
We can see reasons for Okinawa the way it is now, making an alternate route to Nagano, swapping systems and even just dropping the gate from Honshu.
Going with ingame rumors it states that while Kyushu is a Samura dominated system, Honshu for the most part is under the sway of Kishiro.
With that in mind it seems that the alternate route from the Hokkaido Jumpgate Project would be the best option.
This seems to make the most sense to me but I also know that there are some here who have very strong views, some of which are very logical and some that make little sense.

Can anyone else step up to the plate?

For 4.85:
1. Delete the lanes from the Okinawa Gate to Planet Honshu, replace with buoys to Aomori. Players can roleplay trying to add the lanes in, rather than it just happening.
2. Add a borderstation or a battleship on the Honshu side of the gate.
3. Don't forget all the other changes Dab planned.
EDIT: Can we hear more input from those representing the Hogosha, Kishiro, and Samura?
Buoys (with a possible single in construction lane?) between the gate and Aomori? That seems much better. A border station seems the best, as any battleship should be out in the war area I'd think.
If there's a gate added in Hokkaido (also some more Samura gas miners) to Nagano, I think that would solve any issues.
That's from my Samura standpoint.
I mean, that doesn't even touch on the GC part, but that would remove a GMG system from being in the middle of Kusari.
Thank you Markus and Brad. I, as well, noticed that Kishiro took a hit in 4.85...
Just to be clear, as planned, Nagano will apparently have gates to both Okinawa and Hokkaido. (according to Dab, but I don't feel like hunting more quotes but I've put it in this thread already..) However, the GMG making a route through Okinawa to Nagano doesn't make sense because it will undoubtedly increase Hogosha/Alliance interest, and cause KNF/KSP/Samura presence. At the same time, the GMG won't give up Okinawa to the Kusari Government easily, as they've already invested so much there. (See Prowler's posts) This is why I thought connecting Nagano and Honshu would be better practice for both the GMG and the Kusari government... but hey, geography isn't perfect and maybe that's what the dev's intended. Maybe there's a reason these two systems could not be connected - but to be sure, I haven't heard it yet except from an developer's standpoint OORP.
And yeah, Kishiro should be able to put in the lanes because they and the GMG have such an influence in the Honshu system, culturally, economically, and perhaps politically. Wouldn't you rather roleplay it though?
Also, I can't think of where a border station exists without a lane to it so a battleship might be more appropriate. (Thank you Hawkwings)
EDIT:
' Wrote:And the concerns about Nagano; It will be connected to Hokkaido next version via a Samura Jump Gate.
<snip>
Lastly a JG into Okinawa, which will connect it to Honshu.
' Wrote:The name is secondary, the location is the real problem.
I'm in full agreement with this. The problem is that the Kusari government would never allow a Jump Gate to be built if it weren't allowed to defend its borders (AKA, agree that GMG holds sovereignty in this place without hope of getting in to patrol from time to time). If the way of transit to this place (Basically its location), it would make sense. The GMG can name it whatever they want.
EDIT: Added a little clarity to my parenthesis.
[8:32:45 PM] Dusty Lens: Oh no, let me get that. Hello? Oh it's my grandma. She says to be roleplay.
[12:49:19 AM] Elgatodiablo: You know its nice that you have all that proof and all, Bacon... but I just don't believe you.
