It doesn't matter if it's 0 posts or not ...If a new member comes in & they can't get exactly what they want, then they just need to adapt & change what it is they exactly want. it's just the nature of the beast...especially since there are billions of names to still choose from & not really a pressing issue that harms the health of the forums in any real way.
I didn't start posting until like a month after I created my account. I would have been rightly annoyed if I had come to post and it had been deleted for inactivity. Characters on the server are only deleted for inactivity because I believe the amount of unused characters was negatively effecting the servers' performance. The same doesn't apply to a forum. Names get taken all the time, you just have to live with it. Nighthawk is nearly always taken >_>
I should come up with a more original call-sign. Oh well.
I am not sure what you mean, but i think i like the general sound of it!
Edit: The reason i brought this up, is that since i have deleted my Kukulcan char, my name no longer makes any sense (Kukulcan is a Mayan god, not Aztec). And i just thought that something like this might lead to people having to have utterly rediculous and abstract names as the forum gets more and more members (a large percentage of which have never posted, as per the other Montezuma).
@Marburg, I dont think it harms the forum at all, it is just something annoying that i would wager i am not the only one to encounter.
Deleting accounts is not good practice and should only be done in certain situations, such as for those that are not logged into within a certain time frame (a month is too short in my opinion, I'm thinking more like a year), not activated within a certain period (this is usually done automatically, sometimes within 24 hours) or is the source of spam or the related IP addresses are blacklisted (even then the account is typically banned, not deleted). Bear in mind that every registration to this board must be validated by an administrator.
I do not feel that post count is relevant at all, if the user has logged in then it suggests that they have been reading the boards, which is an important aspect of the game server.
As already said, some members do not frequent particularly often. Some may never log in but might still contribute to the server in some way and, if so, it would be extremely unfair to revoke their account.
Also consider that almost 25,000 accounts already have either been deleted or not validated, that is a huge figure by any standards. This suggests that over 38,000 people have submitted a registration, yet only 13,000 have an account on this day.
