If you can land them sure. A pair of nova torps striking will instantly destroy any snubcraft regardless of shield status and, if land on the hull of a gunboat, strip all of its turrets in a go (as of the last I heard during dev testing, yet to see it in practice). Naturally this is extremely formidable.
The primary reason I don't use nova torps in practice is because they are extremely ungainly, I wouldn't be confidant about hitting anything other than a poorly piloted cruiser with any efficacy. At the moment my piloting skills are so low that I'm maintaining a 50% efficiency at best with snacs against thrusting spinning gunboats. The prospect of dropping a nova torp on one without blasting myself to hell seems dubious at best.
After all, it would probably need to be in a joust. Which requires me to chase the torp, as a change in direction will prompt a miss, which means that I'll need a cowboy hat to properly ride the nova torp to my death, but cowboy hats are hard to find in space.
But maybe I need to start employing them as an experiment.
I use full-deb Nova + Train CD bomber and I pirate with it. Works well against traders who think their turrets are actually useful for anything else than hitting rocks and pirate slowboats.
ive had nova torps miss trains. i was directly behind, not too far out, and the darn ship turned better than the torp. i kept getting closer till i blew myself up. then i put the darn toy on the shelf and popped in a SNAC and killed a train easily.
i WISH the nova worked well but it just...doesnt. i have to say that its turning is too bad, like it should be bad but like i watched it fly almost a straight line. and the slow acceleration is good, but shouldnt it have a high top speed so that by the time it hits a cap ship its traveling pretty fast?

it is a hard weapon to use, but against large caps, it can be a fearsome weapon.

it is a great weapon to subtarget with on a bs. Most anything below a cruiser can dodge it OK if given the chance. Nasty weapon vs a cruiser. I will target most ships that have it first before I start losing turrets.
Why not increase the turn of the Nova Torp closer to that of others like the Sunslayer?
Increase the targeting delay and decrease the acceleration even more if there is an increased risk of it being used against fighters/bombers as a result...
ok, so the nova is designed to be ONLY good against BB and CA...i guess i just figured it would work against transports too. considering that the transport is undoubtedly being pirated, it is trying to run and sometimes turning as best it can, a NOVA cant keep up with it. but i did forget about explosives knocking off turrets as well as damage. that is handy in long battles when they got B/B out the wazzo
i guess that leaves SNAC and TCD still for a pirate bomber loadout and a SNAC and NOVA for an assualt bomber loadout.
