However, this is unconfirmed.
It makes sense though, the Nova torpedo has a similar warning telling bombers to keep shields on or be obliterated by the shockwave, even though i never saw such a shockwave occur. Giving bombers some splashy snacs would really prevent them from flying up to fighters and unleash hell.
Then again, It's up to fighters to keep a safe distance between them and bombers: If they are not paying attention they should just go boom.
The multiplication of Component Damage was fixed in the initial 4.85 version of Discovery.
SNACs already instakill anything short of an armored gunboat anyways.
Splash damage isnt a guaranteed solution however because:
Spash Damage = Explosive
Explosive = Explosion Must Hit Shield Generator
Explosion Not Hitting Shield Generator = No Shield Damage
However, if it would be possible to keep the damage on the projectile itself, while adding a secondary explosion, that could work..
The SNAC is fine now I would say... and SNAC vs Fighters... well, dodge it, and don't attack bombers head-on when you have shields down, that's all there is to it.
I buy things I don't want to make an impression on people I don't like.
