Are you kidding, we have the most active freelancer server in history of mankind.
Even with 128 players i used to have like 3-5 escorts (true they were flying hawks and such) If you can't find an escort you are verbaly challanged.
Anyhow, transport guns should get more dps for a higher energy consumption... And flak turrets I'm all for them, (and missiles)

I agree with Eppy here, add some special turrets only for liners and call them "Liner Turret"(s) and add a Liner Flak and Liner Missile Turret, the Luxury Liner and the Royal Liner are pretty large ships to be so weak.
For example the Luxury Liner has a similar size with the bretonian battleship.
Also Prison Liners, everyone who played single player knows that the Prison Ship XT-19 was being attacked by a swarm of Liberty Rogues not only by one fighter. It must be harder to take down a large ship like a luxury liner. Make his armor and powerplant stronger.
The Royal liner by its nature should have been a special RP request with cruiser stats, unfortunately for Eppy that does not make it a trading cruiser, as 3900 cargo is not going to happen with cruiser stats, even with a special RP request, people will get quite annoyed at that kind of stuff flying about trading invincible.
A cruiser liner for high ranking Bretonians, y'know, the Queen, is a very good idea. I can imagine taking one to an event is tricky, no escorts can really stop one from being ganked, even BS bot feeding one wont save it. You know how people like to play to win, and 'zomg I killed teh queen' is a powerplay dream.
Also a side note, the Kusari imperial yacht is actually a BS that's a little bit weaker than the Bretonian BS.
Sorry to say im with Eppy on this one. I used to fly royal liner that was seen in over 150 systems. All within good rp. In 84 I was content in knowlege that my ship is gonna survive most encounters, and it better do so because ive paid bloody money for undercargoed ship. Tradeoff was that they need two ships to pirate you properly or even more if pilots are unexpirienced.
Then came 85 and I got ganked by Paladin sporting a razor and a cavalier with cd. That happend even with my good aim because my guns required them to be inside range where they can shoot me, giving me no chance of escape.
Nowdays people say liners are overused. To be honest, besides Slave liner when he came into game, and several weapondealers, they arent much of a use. And as for mute traders, it really doesnt mean anything what they fly since they dont add to game at all.
Even in 84 when they were much more powerfull, there werent much of them. At least not much of them used as transports or in rp. Mostly they were storage depots or stuff like space bars and assorted special roleplay ships.
Rather than buffing them to cruiser, I would ask for them to have their own turret set that is more powerfull than those of regular transports. Also they need to have their armour back (one removed during rebalance).
