To be fair, I've seen about 30 Tridente's in NY in my short few weeks here so far, and only 2 (I think?) Falcata's. About 5-10 sabre's. Oh, I did see one Hacker gunship too:P
and no lawfuls to stop them. Truly everybody buys a cap there, and caps get ownd by tridente / falcata swarms everytime. And those who fly VHF or similar either have no armor upgrade or no skill. Either way lawfuls lose.

The man has a point. If I'd been scouting ahead, for whatever you'd care to offer me (for 5k of ore, 5-10 million would be nice; I always let my customer make the first offer) I could have rerouted your transport around that nasty cargo pirate, or better yet held him up or killed him as you flew past.
This is the frontline of the escort argument - people complain about there not being enough escorts, people complain that they charge too much, then people complain when a cargo pirate rips them off for all their ore. When hauling ore, an escort is required. You'd have mined that with others, and if you lose that those others won't be impressed.

Well, it might be a guidance for people to make some new characters, like ESCORTS! and dont ask for tons of cash, just RP, be a trader. YOu only need cash to fit your ship and little for inn and few coins to spend on something. Why fancy millions?
Well, ship upkeep, upgrades, resupply, and because not everybody wants to be a barge pusher. Heck, the price is part of the rp. Not even cops protect people for free.

Exactly. If you die, do you know how much it costs to replentish nuke/screamer mines, enhanced countermeasures and train disruptors? Not to mention the fact that the mod isn't exactly stable right now - new equipment could be added any moment. You need a solid buffer of cash to be on the safe side.
Besides, I can fund ships easily off my Buccaneer (lolrony: I set up my escort on piracy money), so why not on my escort with enough work?
Regadless, the issue isn't with the amount escorts are charging. The issue is with the fact you can talk/advertise at (not to) a trader, and they'll 8 times out of 10 either ignore you or turn you down. That's telling them they can set the price, as well.
Plus, an escort is there for multiple reasons. 1) The obvious - to make sure you don't encounter any pirates. 2) To make sure you're safe if you do encounter pirates. 3) To help pass the time quicker; you're a player full of interactions and RP. Trading goes so much quicker when you're talking to someone, or you're in a convoy.
I wouldn pay escort a 10 million, only to a gunboat. Really VHF or bomber cannot protect me from pirate pack, gunboat can at least somehow delay them.
And replenishing I can tell you - million max, not even that, mines do cost 420k and thats the biggest part of it, so no need for 10 millions.
This is exactly the non rp part. You grind money of escorting. Why not enjoy the fun of escorting? I would work for little cash, but who would hire me anyways...
Well there are lawfuls, I believe we have established that what I believe the problem might be is there is not enough lawfuls in each house. Liberty would have the most but we always seem to either outnumbered or outgunned OR we just have no skills piloting such Craft. I will usually escort a mining ship for example to the kurasi border but as I am LSF I am unable to go any further without getting in trouble with either high command or The Kurasi Navy...Actually about them it would seem they have blockaded the Jumpgate to NT and have been demanding goods from traders..l
