How are people supposed to role play with trigger-happy people? Especially traders?
I really don't know how to roleplay with someone who is devoted to killing me. He calls me a kitten, asks me to beg for my life, I do a nervous and scared RP, then I get killed. I don't think I could have done anything in Role Play to escape that..
Please, give the weaklings an RP chance out.
You where peripherally involved in an encounter between a group of Phantoms and Heavy Metal Queen and a Junker, it was a long rp and quite fun, but you can just ignore what you see with your own eyes, and instead jump on the bandwagon. How did she get out of it?? She thought outside the box, the thing we want most is to not hear exactly the same response every time we encounter someone. Offer us love, offer us devotion, offer to blow up your own cargo, offer to do a dance..... offer something thats not money or cargo and your chances of surviving go up exponentially.
' Wrote:First off Ze'ev is Ze'ev first and a Phantom second. He hates hates hates hates Junkers, so yes, he would chase you into whatever system you ran into it. For him to stop chasing you would have been oorp for him, especially considering he remembers very angrily how that .:J:. Rhineland battleship invaded Tau42, so Puerto Rico isnt much of a barrier to him. And if you hadnt ran right toward PR, you probably wouldn't have died there.
Edit: What should I have done? Killed you and then waited for the NPC's to kill me? Of course I left quick.
So I'm reading this right that you chased him into his own guard system and killed him because another junker had entered tau 42 in the past? I mean I think im reading this right...

No, he chased him down and killed him because he is a junker, Ze'ev hates junkers with a burning passion, he thinks they are the scum of the universe, he thinks they dont even deserve to breath. Why the hell would he just let him get away because he made a jump?
edit: but if instead of reading the whole paragraph you just want to read one sentence and make up your mind, thats up to you.

So it would be fine for me to take a battleship a wing of bombers, gunboats and maybe a cruiser into another faction I dont like and blast them then, possibly knf or grn? I had learned that guard systems where to be respected.
Oh well maybe said huge fleet blasting the crap out of someones guard system would be fine then.
quick edit- Im more amazed by the chasing into guard system part. I had always had it hammered over my head that "its not allowed" and even entering one when not of the faction is dubious. I read how your character hates junkers ect, I was commenting on the other part.

If you enter a Guard System, you will probably attacked on sight. The RP laws forbid it, but you are free to enter on your own risk. That is what Ze'ev did, nothing more. Enter the RM guard system and you will be dead in about a minute.

This was not a fleet but one ship, and he was in the system for all of 30 seconds. But yes, that kind of thing happens all the time. Not too long ago I remember the AU and RHA bringing like 8 ships into the RM guard system to attack them. The SOB brought a fleet into tau 42 to attack, and the AFA attacked the biodomes in Omicron 81. But yes, I guess I was wrong and bend down before you and ask for forgiveness.

Edit: GRN doenst have a guard system.
Sorry then, I had always been told that you cant even enter them if your not of the faction or friendly with them, and hence was incredilous that you chased him down in one. I still do find it somewhat incredilous but I have no basis for it then.
Also I know grn doesnt have one but one day they will and I do not like them, in about the same way some feel about junkers.

Ignoring your sarcastic and frankly unwanted tone, the last time I saw someone take a fleet into a guard system, it was comprehensively and completely defeated by weapons platforms. The fleet comprised of three battleships, about five cruisers, a gunboat here and there and about seven fighters.
The reason nobody goes to these guard systems is because it can completely massacre them, not because they are 'places to be respected'. For example, if you jump into Omicron 91, expect a hail of gunfire from the Osiris parked next to the jump hole. If I can go in, make a hit on someone, and go out again without dieing, that's exactly what I'll do.
Some of your diplo seems a little off. Really I'm not sure why a lot of pirate groups would be friends with you. Rheinland ones for example.
Also do I have to make the phantom-junker/qcp-zoner comparison.
Other than that, only met one of you in game (BaconSoda). We didn't talk that long (I think we both wanted something different out of the encounter) but it was good stuff.
Basically, just remember that you don't get to do whatever you want because you're invite only; you have to be invite only because of what you do.
Not accusing you of breaking it, but it's just a fairly small distinction to make that affects a lot of stuff.
edit: also this thread's debate is yet another reason why guard systems are awful. No one knows what they are or how to treat them.
I really don't have a problem with the existence of the Phantoms. Space is not a safe place and bad things happen. The game wouldn't be any fun if there weren't obstacles out there that are greater than us or offer some kind of challenge to get around them.
That being said, things can be taken too far.

I read this as find some way to personally degrade yourself before us and you might live. Is there anyone on this server who could expect to get a positive response from something like this? It's one thing to RP with people, it something altogether different to tear them down for fun because you can.
