Rogues have the best pirating VHF in the mod and the best pirating bomber in the mod. They certainly do not need another ship that is good at pirating.... wait... let me rephrase this

You wanna pirate? Get a Werewolf or Barghest. Werewolf even has potential in 1v1 fights if you're the type who can shoot someone in the ass with CDs so much they can't turn around. They've got a great turnrate.
Greyhounds and Hyenas are in there as support fighters to clear the air for the sluggers to do their job. Got Mantas or Avengers gunning for the big boys? Use the little ones.
This is a speciality fighter... much like the Gladiator. It's a HF that happens to have lvl 10 guns, so it's a great HF, not really a VHF though so it's best used in pairs and in groups.
Try to judge it as that... as far as VHF's go rogues have another, that is far more heavy.

And what's it supposed to be, right now? Good at killing fighters? Not when every other ship has 5-6 guns, better armour and shield. Lets face it... HFs are not used a lot, at all, this is a VHF dominated enviroment. The Greyhound used to be more balanced towards a VHF with four guns, now it's a HF with VHF turning.

You might think that... but after playing a Rogue as long as I have you'll know that even Barghests and Werewolves make better combat ships than Greyhounds and Hyenas. And don't say "but the Molly's..."
Because we're not the Mollys. We fight different opponents and use different weapons on our Greyhounds, because we're pirates.

As someone who flies Junker fighters and bombers I can tell you that pvp balance is not always going to tip in favor of anyone's chosen faction. The Collector VHF is 'balanced' to have a 1.00 turnrate and a total of five forward firing weapons because it has a big cargohold and 110/110 regens. It is out-turned by every other VHF in the game and a lot of light bombers.
Do Junkers get such 'special' ships because their guns are so great? Or maybe it's because their enemies get such bad ships and guns. Or maybe it's because Junkers shouldn't be fighting at all. Try explaining that to the Xeno indies that go YEEHAW ENGAGE if they see a .:j:. character in the level 50's in NY, by the way.
Yes, I'm complaining about Junker ships again. It's my gimmick. But this time I'm using it to prove a point; I'll be honest in that I don't think the guys doing balance are doing a perfect job, but it's a big job. And not everybody can be pleased considering the fact that the mod is built around staying true to the Freelancer source material.
I make do with the shortcomings of my faction's equipment. Sometimes I even win a fight. You can't win every argument and there comes a point where you just need to step back and wonder if it's worth all the spittle and aggravation.
But would I still be a Junker if I flew a Werewolf with a pile of codenames? Sometimes ya just gotta ignore what's white on the tech chart and fly what feels right for your characters and faction.
Anyway, I'm testing the Greyhound in SP now. Haven't flown it since it had chainguns and tiger stripes and it was a fricking awesome ship then.
