Patience, tolerance, forgiveness.
But there are also kinds of people who are simply too ignorant, stubborn and immature and refuse to learn to RP. I just don't think much is being done to punish those people sufficiently.
Piracy is just as much a business as trading is; both are dependent on the nature of supply & demand.
When a pirate makes unreasonable demands, it decreases supply when trader characters such as mine sends signals through the neuralnet to other known traders to change their routes in order avoid the system the inflexible pirate is operating in.
Getting pirated is just a daily cost of doing business, & good pirates & traders know that they both exist within a symbiotic circle.
Stupid pirates are ones who think that because their superior firepower & maneuverability places them at the top of the food chain, it fosters within many of them a bloated since of entitlement.
Smart pirates understand that traders are the base of the food chain becausethey are the food...they know that if they gorge on all the food to the point of famine, the ones at the top have the furthest to fall.
Stupid pirates either learn this eventually, or they remain short sighted overly greedy fools & eventually starve & die off from lack of what is really an easy source of steady income for both sides when done right.

Well we sure have a large amount of stupid pirates operating throughout the Sirius.
Well, we have had a large amount of stupid pirates operating throughout the Sirius for years now, & years from now people will be saying the same thing in threads just like this one.
In order to combat this neverending thing, I simply try to haggle inrp & simply never pay over 2M to anyone

I do that too, but I won't pay for anything more than 1.5M. I call it "company policy". But some OORP pirates are simply too stupid and impatient to even try to RP.
This happened to me:
P: *disrupts lane* 3m
me: What does that mean? 3 metres?
P: 3 million in my account
me: 3 million of what? Peanuts?
P: OR DAI
me (typing): Cryer policies states that in an event of pirate encouter, employees are to pay no more than...
P: OK u ll dai
heh! you simply will either learn to deal with that sort of thing while doing your best to remain in RP continuing to set a good example to the few that will one day improve, or you will let frustration get the best of you, sapping alot of the fun out of playing the game when you realize that this sort of problem will always exist.
Some things you just gotta shake off & accept as simply the nature of the beast on the most populated server around:lol:
One small thing that has been missed in this conversation as I see, which is the reason people pirate in this game. We have certain factions that try to make money, or gets supplies by piracy, there are others that are trying to make an ideological statement. The Liberty Rogues are trying to make money, the Mollies are trying to gain their independence, the Blood Dragons are trying to over throw the Emperor, the LWB are fighting for farmers rights, the FA are trying to rid Kusari of foreigners, the Gaians are trying to stop environmental damage. All have different goals and different ways of achieving those goals. Their piracy takes different forms and it results in different demands. 5 mil credits, too much? Most times, but if the LWB catch a Synthfoods transport, or a Gaian catching an OSC ship. Your whole load of cargo might seem like too much from a Liberty Rogue or Corsair, because they want you to keep using that route so they can hit you again and again, but it seems perfectly reasonable for an FA to ask for the full load, as their goal is to have you stop trading on that route.
Pirate demands can be a lot or a little, both being very in rp for different factions in different situations, trying to look at this with out looking at the context of the situation, is like trying to read a sentence with only vowels.
Edit: And Burgyboo, I hate to argue with your earlier point, but my taking full loads of cargo from every trader I find has not seemed to diminish the number of traders in Kusari, it's probably a 4 to 1 ratio of traders to everyone else in Kusari. Has been for a long time.

Well.. apparently there are more and more stupid pirates these days. Last time, a really stupid pirate would be 6mil. Now... its 10mil or dai or drop ALL your cargo (nop you dont have to make a profit only I win) or dai.
QUOTE: well then i guess we got it both ways. im sick of a trader who refuses to open comms and just keeps running till i have to kill them or they dock and THEN taunt me afterwards, and not even in character.
Well there are lots of stupid traders also. Just gona get gangbanged next time.
Just like I have a KOS list for junkers (since I dont wanna kill miners/smugglers and only pirates) you should keep a KOS list of them. But yeh if you're saying drop ALL your cargo (or more than half) to me or 10mil or dai, I'd die, dockup and smacktalk you also. If they wont rp neither will I.

Actually, in the times when my cargo is demanded by someone, I'll give it up & write it off, cause that's kosher as hell rp-wise. In cases like that, yeah...I can loose up to 5M or so one way, but my 2M ceiling is reserved for the shoot first '3M+ or dai' lower cast of creatures that scurry on the floor of the server
When TAZing, I'm not inflexible, & when some real rp is in my face, that will make me flinch alot more than if it were just some 'ol gun:lol:
well as for me personally, ive given up on finding smart traders. now i dont make demands at all until the ship is completely stopped. you see if you try to RP a lil for them and they keep moving they get away because impossible to type and fly like that. so now, its cut off all engines NOW. if they dont, they get warning shots, and ill keep giving short reminders like stop or ill shoot. stuff that wont take too long to write. if they dont stop they will die. that includes just going 80m/s i wont tolerate it. once they COMPLETELY STOP only then will i start actually talking and i dont mean 2mil or die i dont do that. i actually will RP then
