Yes, hi Sprolf. I robbed your ship because you were in a 100k shield Agama with no escort. You presented a fat target with 50 million in cargo ripe for the taking. So myself and my mate helped ourselves to some of it.
You'll note your ID allows you to do the same to me. In fact most of the mining IDs now come with an interesting balance of hijinks and limitations. If your DSE mining ship comes up on a mining site in Liberty and you spot my Miner ID ship squatting it? You can grab my stuff and tell me to get bent.
Furthermore the mining ID cannot land on any of the mining corp's bases (DSE excluded). So if you chase my mining ID ship in, say, Omega 11 I can't evade you by landing on a Daumann base.
Its a give and take thing.
So here's the thing. The Miner ID allows me to yoink ore. I can do the exact same thing with a Junker ID. Not only can I do the exact same thing with a Junker ID but I can do it with more powerful ships.
So, all in all, it's just a little tip of the hat to provide an extra element of fun and realism to the territory/resource wars between established groups and dirty straw chewing miners who refuse to sign on with any group.
Or think of it as my dedication to urging miners to consider hiring security to watch over their mining sites. For the coin I stole off your ship alone you could have hired the entire reaver merc co to escort you 10 times over.
Aw, Dusty. Here I thought I could be the only one having fun with this realization. Then you come along and put it on the ID. Kansas has been a barrel of laughs as it's right near Puerto Rico.
Guess I need to start watching my back.
And about the Miner ID thing; I like it. Doesn't mean they have to, but this gives them the right if they so choose.
This actually sounds like a really cool idea. You could have groups of miners fighting over the fields, bullying each other into handing over their ore. Heck, you could even make a criminal mining syndicate who make a decent chunk of their profits by raiding their competitors.
In my opinion this is not good, because you cannot know what is coming
first this is fellow miner after that try to rob you? It it a little bit confusing and take the pirate job.It duplicates the Pirate ID and in RP the Pirate Miner must not be able to dock on Naritta. The Pirates must hire freelancer transporter or merc transporter both with max 3800 cargo to be able to sell the ore because they cannot dock on the stations. Its soo easy -we will take 2 miner ided bombers and one transporter and will camp near Naritta. If somebody kill a mining Pirate he just change the name and he come to mine near the guys that he tried to rob earlyer. After a few days somebody will start threats like this one- http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?sh...amp;hl=miner+id
Mining must be a team effort, so pirating miners too, if the pirates don't have transporter with them, they cannot make big profit ,and the whole thing looks like mine whoring to me. The pirates/miners change their names every day first you mine together on the next day the same guy robs you...
it sucks big time
Edit:
Right now in Pennsylvania are no normal miners only 4 mining ided mining pirates

Miner ID can only demand Ore. And a Pirate IDed player has no-where to sell the cargo too.
I think the saddest thing I have ever heard was what one guy told me last night. "I have mined for 2 nights and haven't made a credit because of pirates." (As I was pirating him)
Not only did I know that was a bald-faced lie, I'd watched him take the same route again and again after he was pirated, only to run into the same pirate again and again. He never thought to get an escort, change his mining location, change his selling location, or any of the other things that would have helped him save his cargo.
Change things up. I would rather have to hunt down and chase miners then to just watch them fall into my lap. There's no fun in that, although my bank account just loves it.

All that could have been saved for giving up a fraction of your profits for private security. Instead you lost it all. Hiring private security has been encouraged for a long time. Now as Dusty has stated, they are resorting to more creative forms of encouragement.

You don't know what's coming? If you choose to walk down the streets of a rough neighborhood with 50 mil in your pocket and don't know what's coming I can't help you. It's not the same as a pirate ID because they can only steal your ore. Miners are people too, eventually they will get tired of blasting all those rocks and decide to work smarter, not harder.
