In the hall of eternal darkness, I dwell in the flame that is the circle of my damnation. The great being of horn Eidolon has fastened his silver chain.
But I have heard your call...
I will to pass through the black gate once more and you will look upon my visage.
Please tell dear Pitchfork, or Baconsoda I believe, not to shoot at people while they're writing RP ingame, especially if "people" didn't attack them first.
Also known as "Oh?" isn't an engagement notice.
It's not any rules broken I think, not really, but it'd just be nice, not RP-wise, but basic-human-politeness-wise.
There's really no hard feelings, but eh man.

Wholeheartedly agreed, it happened to me too. I was having nice RP, phantoms came out from nowhere, boom, end of nice RP (and of my fun).
My friend, you threatened me. I would again like to say the RP is not only words, but actions as well. You gave me a timer, so, I made you reconsider that with guns. I did give you a warning shot, almost drained your shields. You moved. I assumed we were fighting.
That's all a consequence of RP. If you weren't prepared to fight, don't act in a hostile manner until you are prepared to fight. That's pretty much it.
Also, please point out exactly where it says I need an engagement notice:
' Wrote:5. General PvP Rules
5.2 All attacks must be the result of some form of role play. "Engaging" is not sufficient. An attack is any hostile action that drains shields to less than 50%. Being hit with a CD is not considered an attack. If a player is attacked he has a right to defend himself regardless of who is attacking.
[8:32:45 PM] Dusty Lens: Oh no, let me get that. Hello? Oh it's my grandma. She says to be roleplay.
[12:49:19 AM] Elgatodiablo: You know its nice that you have all that proof and all, Bacon... but I just don't believe you.

Look mate, I specifically pointed out that you didn't break any rules because there was RP prior to the firing of guns. It's just that it's a bit impolite. On a related note, I don't care when someone breaks the rules(Except those bigger cases of swearing, gross RP violations and such), nor do I look at the little things, as long as they make sense, but I do care about general courtesy.
Me typing out that you have a 60 second timer was meant to make it all a bit more dynamic. I moved because, well, you drained my shields and took some of my hull.
You just turned after that and finished me off. I didn't try to dodge 'cause I just said 'Screw it.'
I was perfectly prepared to fight if need be, and without fake modesty, I'd have wiped the floor with you, but it's just that I was planning to RP more prior to it, and in fact was typing as you attacked me, after which I pressed escape just to move a bit to try and let you know I'm not trying to fight just yet.
What I have a beef with is that all you said after my line was 'Oh?' and just attacked.
You didn't break rules, and even if you had I'd not have a beef with that precise thing, but the politeness thing (Out of RP). I'm just saying that you should've at least given me a chance to figure out that you're going to jump the gun and attack me all of a sudden by typing out a normal line..
And Akura, thing is that that char of mine doesn't even know who the Phantoms are. Running away crying would be metagamingish. Plus, you're not aware of the context. We were having a pretty friendly conversation up until one point, which is kinda why I have a beef with it. Silly things ruin an encounter.

So, let me get this straight. You're complaining that I didn't adhere to your particular style of RP? Because I didn't fit inside your little box of what I should do, you're going to complain? Because you threatened me, and I RPed with guns instead of my mouth, you're going to complain? It sounds like another case of "Lets talk about our feelings!" syndrome. If you threaten us, or at least me, I'm going to attack you. I don't know why anyone else would respond to a threat differently with this kind of character. This is an RP action. I'm sure that if I were an Outcast Sabre, and you were a =CR= Nyx, and I threatened you, you would attack me too.
Frankly, I think it's not courteous to complain about RP when a great deal of RP occurred. We RPed a lot, and I felt rather good about the entire thing. The Miner we had was a great RPer as well. Overall, today has been a great success, in terms of RP (Minus the Hessians). I don't know what more you want. I can tell you about Pitchfork's feelings here, though. She's very depressed.

So, those lines of RP that we exchanged wasn't enough? You wanted us to spoon before we fought, too? I know, it's so attractive (I like to be the little spoon). But, in all seriousness, you didn't want to fight us when you had lain out a timer? That's just silly. What do you expect us to do?
If you weren't ready to fight, don't act with hostility. I honestly haven't the faintest idea of what you expected to happen...
And about that floor, 'eh, maybe. If you did/do/will, oh well. That's cool. But, this leads me to believe that my buddy Harlequin was right when he said:
But judging about how you said "Screw it", I doubt that you were too enthused about fighting, but, rather, were just looking for something to complain about, saw a popular Phantom, and came to see if there was something that you could complain about. I don't see a real complaint, though.

I did give you a chance. I gave you a warning shot and almost drained your shields. You moved. That usually means that someone figures out that we're fighting. You should have noticed that I shot you a couple times and figured out that we were fighting. Honestly, I don't know what tells someone "We're fighting" more than gunshots. Again, I don't know what you want here.

So you made a Roleplaying decision. The consequence is that you died. Now that character knows that if he's going to attack the Phantoms, he had better be straightforward.
Also, please notice who made the conversation hostile. You were the one who took a great offense when we said that we weren't going to hire you. Looking back, I didn't even realize why you were giving us a timer to "Wipe the floor" with us until reviewing the conversation just now. All in all, I really can't recognize what you want. It looks like you're just complaining for the sake of complaining. What did you really expect us to do? Give you a job to go kill Admiral Hale or Shogun Sulu? I don't really understand what exactly is silly about me killing someone that threatened me...

I'm sorry to respond to your post with such a short answer as this as it seems you put some effort into it.
Anyways, no, fighting wasn't my priority there. As it was pretty obvious, I believe, I wanted to start some more RP with my merc and perhaps get an interesting gig to do.
If I wanted to fight I could have done it way more easily and on my own terms.
And no, Bacon, I didn't want you to absolutely give me a job if you didn't want to, nor do I object to you actually fighting me.
I merely object to you taking a cheap shot and catching me off guard while I was typing, and not stopping when you saw that I merely hovered in space without shooting back or dodging.
You're coming off a bit angry here, and I think you have the wrong impression here. I think I already said it, but I'll say it just in case. I'm not angry here, I don't really care, nor do I take things personally, especially on the first day of me returning to the place.
Nor is this some crusade against the Phantoms or anything. First of all, each time some idiot came on the forums with unfounded accusations against anyone, especially factions like Phantoms and Keepers, or the other 'main targets', I shot him down for it.
This here post, this was more of a Baconsoda feedback thread, than a Phantom one. And it wasn't even about how you RP or the Phantoms RP.
It's just about one thing. And that one thing is common courtesy.
Nothing else. Now take from that what you want. All I wanted is to send a message and if you accept it, so be it, if not, the same.
Now let's play the game and quit this bickering.

Once more, I didn't really care about fighting. It just seemed like the logical thing, since your char was pretty cocky there and it was in accordance with the personality of mine to get offended there and kinda have a go at getting some respect there.
And what you also should do is stop getting the feeling that you are somehow more valuable than the person you're interacting with. I just get the feeling that I'm being treated like a 9 year old lolwut with your condescending and angry tone. This statement needn't be addressed.

Simple fact is no-one knows you are typing until the words hit the screen, you appeared to be standing there you got wasted after becoming hostile with the Phantoms. It's nothing to do with courtesy. Once you'd been shot you don't just sit there typing, you dodge and type. Which if I can do it, anyone else can.
