But the Gaians siding with Kusari in the war i think makes sense, afterall, FL is based on RL cultures, Bretonia being based on industralised Britain, whi wanted to build factories left right and center, mine all the coal the earth had and burn it to make power, goods and money, then we have Kusari which is Based on fudal japan, a culture that had a very great and deep respect for nature and the world around it, mainly steming from their religious traditions. And as i see it, Kusari and Bretonia are baisically a more modern equivilent of those historical cultures, with roughly the same values and ideals asthey had. If i were a Gaian, i know who i'd side with.
Samura would be very pleased of Synth Paste would be removed from the market by a gaian invasion on Stuttgart, yes. We might even try to convince the Farmer to convince and probably even the Landwirtrechtbewegung.
Now on a more serious note: I'm not sure if this is really an alliance or more some kind of friendly relation based on common enemies. Yes, I am sure the gaians can profit from corsair engineers assisting them and the corsair surely would like that additional staging ground. But their goals are quite different in my opinion.

The way it always seemed to me, is that the 'sairs struck up an allience with the Gaians in order for them to have safe harbor docking rights deep in Bretonian space whenever needed. The Gaians, being a struggling faction (much more so than nowandays) bit the bullet & agreed to allience, knowing that the resulting economic boost from 'sairs would keep the Gaian movement going.
I actually have no idea if its ever been established as to when the Gaians & 'sairs made nice...I imagine it was over a generation ago, & by now, the Gaians should be able to keep their movement afloat without the 'sairs help. That would warrant a move to neutral, yeah?
& yep, the NLH does have the standpoint that 'sair influence within the Gaians has over time, watered down the faction & screwed up their priorities to the point where the Gaians are now basically just pirates with a slogan, & the NLH want out of the 'sair allience in order to (as they see it) get the Gaians 'back on task'
Anyhoo, I figure it made sense for a time, but not 'today'.
The Corsair alliance also puts Gaians more at odds with other unlawfuls in Bretonia.
Methinks they have more to gain by actually helping Bretonia (Instead of helping it's devastation) and the groups in it than helping those trying to destroy it.
It doesent make much sense for the corsair/gaian allience to stay around, but, i doubt it'll change any time soon because of how long it's been around.

Well, if you look at the corporations that are messing with Gaia - You're looking at BMM, Planetform and Spa and Cruise i think, this depends no how wide you think the Gaians scope on things is? are they Just concerned with planet Gaia or are their issues wider - if so, then Brettonian government support for those corporations would mean that the Gaians still have a bone to pick in Brettonia... and so the eco-violence continues.
As a Corsair and [NLH] Player, i personally like the alliance, but i have to say that i think it is a marriage of convenience, ive occasionally backed up Corsair players in Dublin a few times, its always fun to actually see the allies - well... allying.
Corsairs i would imagine have little love for the environment, that said, i would guess that they would actually be quite good at conservation, given that their homeworld is so sparcely blessed with resources... Blood thirsty imperilistic pirates they may be, but they might also be really good at recycling?;)
Cork.. *sigh* - Could any of the Corsair players who were involved in that little story please put your hands up and comment?
Well, from my point of view, there are like...three...four types of Gaians:
Pirates / drug addicts
Those who are outraged and hunt Planetform, OSC, etc...
The original Greenfront (diplomats or politics, some would say, never seen one)
Me
The original friendliness with 'sairs was IMHO caused by gaian lack of any technology. Ships I mean. And 'sairs could use a hand with fighting mollies and bombing (or whatever) their planet (which modern gaians tend to forget). With this "alliance" gaians got in pretty deep sh*t and I guess they'd have serious problems with Outcasts today if Corsairs didn't give a damn about them. Srsly.
Personally I hate (in RP) corsairs and most of other gaians for being a poor excuse for a human:). I'd be for splitting gaians. Pirans, Pewans and Gaians. Revolution!
If anything of that was already mentioned I'm sorry, I just like, totally needed to share my useless opinion.
Well first of all, gaians now are more pirate like than those students who wanted to save the planet. Just players selects to play more intresting role than a simple pirate. So the overall view might look a bit strange. Yes.
But agian, in RP terms, gaianas are now more likely simple pirates and forgatten their original goals. Thats why I don't see any reason for gaians not to go in alliance if they have ability to go.
well gaian gains some kind of support in bretonia in occasions.
Corsairs gains docking rights in Bretonia.
But is this enought for alliance? I don't know. As I see Corsairs shouldn't have allies at all. Perhaps only friendly. So gaians would be friendly too at best.
Now most of Corsair alliances were made without much rp background, just to balance OC - Corsair menpower. And we got nuisense in result, but well, who cares...
Gaians are in a mess of confusion right now. They're being supported by Kusari while maintaining political support in Bretonia, for instance - what? There's also this random "they're just pirates now" thing that Disco added, as well (at least the last I looked, I couldn't find mention of that in vanilla).
So for Corsairs, well, why not? A large people with skilled pilots seems useful if you could convert even a small number to the Gaian cause.

Check faction info card in vanila? Same is for bundshuch. They do not have so much idealists now. The new operation of Gaians are mostly interested in simple piracy. It's just players who wants to play idealists to have more colorful rp.
