Cant see much good that will come of this. Scyllas on ~California will be the new normal. Small-time indy pirates and hunters will not be able to compete (no caps alllowed on their IDs). Newbie traders will get shut out of their zones and unable to grind for cash.

Says you. Take a look at the faction activity list. Seven of the top 10 are trader factions.
This is going to be a fun little change. Can't wait to see how it plays out. The only thing I'm slightly disappointed about is docking on a transport counting as a death. That said, I can understand why that was excluded.

What's the difference between breaking the rules in a fighter and in a battleship?
Perspective, please.
The difference between the two, is a battleship is capable of mounting a pulse and a heavy mortar, or even just a large battery of tertiary turrets. That's instant death.
A fighter is capable of mounting a couple of CODEs and a proportionally tiny powerplant. That gives you a rough change of escape.

Unless you are a masochist, of course.
Trading isn`t a fun activity - it`s a chore. It`s something you do to pay your repair bills. It`s boring, tedious and makes people to invent trade-bot programs. And then a pierat comes and makes you feel like a victim, adding to the frustartion.
Then you're doing it wrong. Or you don't have any clue about role-play, and you only see trading as a way that you, personally as the player, can make oodles of money to support characters that otherwise can't support themselves. Instead of figuring out that RP'ing while trading is and can be fun.

EDIT: But yeah, to most it is a chore.
I agree with your first comment, Sterlin. Those people who find it a chore have, I fear, never actually TRIED to role-play it. Or only choose high profit/high risk routes in the first place, because they just want the most money for the least effort.
Heck, some of the best role-play and fun I've had on Disco has been running as the escort / scout for a trading group - and vice-versa, hiring someone to scout for me.

I still say a cap is easier to pop than a few VHFs pirating. Just add bombers.
