That's just a general complaint. It defies and boggles the mind, more than some other things. Like super-luminous speed.
What makes the asteroid immovable, and the battleship movable? MAGIC! Obviously.
>_<
Freelancer engine limitations:)aka Magic I guess? :/
but like others have said... you want to fly a "fatboy" well learn to live with it, you have to have some disadvantages, I think too many people have BS's anyway to be honest. I know the original post was talking about a destroyer but same thing really.... you have to take the disadvantages with the advantages.
Asteroids can be made destroyable/movable, but that would mean the server would have to generate each and every single one instead of doing it all client side... Its just too much server-usage...
Thats a pity because I find the Idea of a battleship hitting a rock many times smaller than it and the rock winning very annoying.
My favourite combat craft are gunboats and bombers so it wont really matter to me, just wondering how other people felt after i got stuck in my destroyer.
I think the asteroids and rocks should be movable when a big ship comes through, but of course it bats the hell out of your shield and hull, and slows you way down, and of course they should all be blowupable when you have a huge capital ship with turrets

Agreed. Good point. And if this feature is implemented on the mod, it will decrease the server usage, I think. Correct me if I am worng.
Pfft, if an asteroid hit a Battleship, it'd do a LOT of damage, some of the asteroid fields are really dense, if you haven't noticed, it'd make moving a Battleship MUCH harder, seriously, you'd need fighters around the thing to stop it being battered to death, to shoot the rocks out of space before they kill off the battleship..
Asteroids are already hitting the battleship, whether they move or not. Making the rocks move, would be the same as a fighter hitting one of those small lootable rocks. It does a small bit of damage, throws it of course slightly. Currently if a battleship hits an unmoving rock, its totally thrown of course and ends up hitting all the other rocks trying to get back.
I believe the server only needs to control the rocks when a player is there, it already does this with small rocks so I`m not sure how much added cpu usage it would create.
Well why not just get rid of the stationary rocks and chance the small ones to the same size as the stationary ones. I've seen this happen on another server it made Asteriods heck to fly through. /but it also improved RP largely because you couldn't efficantly track someone in a asteriod feild
' Wrote:I like them they way they are. I believe it makes the game more dynamic. The only reason I fly a Whale freighter is because the thing can dodge those rocks. It makes the Corfu run fun. Besides I have had more than one flabbergasted pirate try to chase me through there. They don't expect any large ship to do so well. Nice bit is, if they do chase me into 41 I can loose them in the mines or do a very close flyby of the neutron star.
(Singing)You cant touch this...Nanana nan nana You Can't touch this....
yes and i'm yet to hit an asteriod with my large train. and it doesn't matter if you can doge the asteriod if the pirate has a CD
