Thank you, I mean it's possible to do a lot with those. But They don't have to be guns. I think everyone just assumes they are.
They are actually large heat sinks that collect the heat generated by the ship and displace it into a much larger area. Thus making any type of heat seeking, viewing technology unable to give an exact fix on what type of ship this was or where it was.
