Hmm? As far as I can see the server is still called "RP 24/7" so it's quite relevant to our current discussion... If we're to remove all restraints then why not have mercenaries who receive 700 m/s Gallic Shield busters and Krakens?
Hmm... 'Tis a good idea, I think I shall call them the "Heavers".

There were mercenaries in vanilla? Trent was a bounty hunter in vanilla?

Right. More dragging the Reaver's name through the mud.
I shouldn't really bother.
We work for who we work for. If you're so inclined, you could try to convince either the Corsairs or Rheinland to cancel their contract with us, but I don't see the issue here. We aren't on permanent retainer for either faction. We are hunting bounties they both have placed on their list.
We have two snubnoses now, woooh. All the better to kill Hessian cruisers with. And Corsair tech if we're lucky for being the only people doing work for them properly.
Seriously, just leave us alone, Jameson. Or, even better, hire us.
@ Zeltak: Being that I'm also a member of the Mandalorians, I'm quite familiar with their bounty hunting. But Mandalorians also support the war effort by fighting AGAINST Rheinland and Kusari. And the Mandalorians aide TAZ and other factions against the unruly sort who wanna wreck havoc in their lairs.
@ Virus: Agreed ... probably a bad idea on my part. We should be looking for solutions that do not increase admin workload. And perhaps mercs too could hunt bounties. But the right to collect on bounties should not be open to everyone. If anything, bounty hunters and mercs should be the only ID's allowed to collect. But if mercs are gonna collect bounties, there's gotta be some limitations. For example ... A merc that attempts to collect a bounty on an Outcast (or an Outcast ally) should NOT be doing so with Krakens (or any other Outcast or allied weapons) mounted on his ship. As it stands with the tech chart, a merc has to get permission from the Outcasts to mount Krakens on his ship. That means he's gotta be friendly enough with the Outcasts to buy them. Same goes for a merc who's collecting bounties on Liberty Navy. He should not be mounting Liberty lawful weapons on his ship while hunting Liberty lawfuls. If a merc plans to play both sides (lawful and outlaw) ... then he better be using neutral weapons and flying a neutral ship.

Ah, but in there lies the problem for our self-appointed enforcer of logic and sanity! One is defined by the actions taken throughout the game, and just as I cannot go back to being Dennis Jameson the charming Lane Hacker inventor you cannot go back to being anything less than Corsair minions.
And doing proper work for the Corsairs? Why my good fellow, had they possessed the acumen required for any higher chain of thought they should have hired the Mandalorians before I have a chance to absorb them into our little fold. And what defines good work? Having an active member base? Why then any active merc company could do just the same "good" work as any other could.
Tsk, and people claim that I am the epitome of arrogance.
I've read the whole conversation and there is something I don't understand.
Bounty Hunters can only hunt lawful bounties
Freelancers and Mercenaries may hunt lawful or unlawful bounties
So first off, if you took away bounty-hunting priviledges from Mercs and Freebees there'd be no more unlawful bounties, unless you changed the Bounty Hunter ID to allow for unlawful bounties. I don't really see that happening...
Second, if this is about pirates hating on bounty hunters, they can fight fire with fire provided they have the cash. Hire Mercs to kill lawfuls, it's really not that hard. Unless I'm mistaken, the Reavers have already taken a good bite out of the LPI forces... for Rhineland, of course.
So my point is, why can't things stay as they are? Why do we need fancy rep-hacks and ID changes? Why can't the rule about PvP abuse and Bounties be clarified and we can all move on with our happy careers?

They're called the Halcyon Merc Co. You gave them Krakens.
