Two things really stand out on the Dreadnaught model. The 'swirls' at the front of the ship, and the 'curls' embedded in the engine section. They both look kind of awkward.
For the swirls at the front, I'd suggest extruding the face, scaling it down and then extruding it to make the swirl so that it is not in line with the top surface.
For the decor at the back of the ship, I'd remove those details all together. I've noticed you've used a Roman Temple sort of style for the capital ships, my suggestion would be to insert traditional triglyph and metope into these sections.
The statues in the back part are going to be removed in the next version of the ship. We are reserving them for something bigger in which we can dump more polygons like the stations.
There's an Adelaide system (because South Australia is a silly name for a star system) with a giant space colony and massive uranium deposits, so don't you fret.
You might have seen this, but there's a nice compilation that was just released called the Total Conversion Mod Starter Pack that might be useful for you guys. It saves you the time of removing all the vanilla systems and also it has some nice bugfixes.
I used something like that to get a start. The Southern Cross systems are actually mostly done, as is one of the Frontier systems. We still need custom base objects, and when we get more ship models, We'll start to get patrol route and lane traffic in.
What I'm needing help with is somebody to help take some of the workload so I don't burn out before it's done.
the nice thing is that he has a ton of base models, and they're high quality. Look at how difficult it's been to get new base models for Disco - let's face it, not many people want to do it. Your best bet might be to forgo reinventing the wheel, so to speak, and use what's already out there.
