Dude, this is not democracy or it will ever be. Sure it can have some elements, but it will never be a democracy and you should respect it for that.
Just because most of the countries are run by the democracy now does not mean that other forms of government is non existent or wrong. Private server, private rules, private everything.
Yes, the community builds the server, but if the server was left for the all players to vote and administrate id would be utterly stupid hippie land where everyone's a friend and PWNING on LN or LR.
People tend to make dumb things in this game. People tend to work out deals on oorp basis and transfer them into the game. Sure, sometimes it brings up the playerbase and activity of certain place, but actually leaving the server up to community is wrong. that's why there are admins and mods and igiss.

And without the community? What is the server?

and it will die for that, too...
Its just like if everyone decided to leave cuba... or north korea...
You are free to leave. No one is holding you here. If community leaves, the community will get replaced. Believe it or not most of people here are replacable. Actually even if all admins quit at the same time the server could compensate or something and easily find replacements.
are you actually thinking we're holding the server hostage?
We're all better off without this game. What I mean is that there's probably more productive things you can do in life, like take a language course or a pottery class. Or getting high. But we do it for fun and thrill. If there's no fun and thrill there's little point.
*edit: I don't see how is giving compliments to my muscular tone have anything to do with the posts here.
' Wrote:Ron, why do you keep calling him your friend when you said that you do not think kind of him expressing his opinion here?
Well, Just because I don't agree with his view dosn't mean I hate him and he is not my friend . . .
I look at all members of this community as "friends" so to speak . . Granted, Some I like more than others, but I still repect all members and try my best to treat all the same . .
Honestly, I really do believe the admin / dev team is working on a solution to this . . And I know they will be FAIR in their investigation and judgements . .
I am just saying that if someone here dosn't have the patience to wait for that, or if it dosn't go the way they want it to be, then perhapse it may be best for them to go somewhere else to see if their ideas may work better in an another community rather than being miserable . . .

EFFIN' ROLEPLAY GUYS ... off to flood we go for that - Hoodlum
Well that depends on what do you consider a thrill and what do you consider "community".
Person that comes here to play, looking for the best trade route, looking for the best weapon setup to pirate and looking for the cheap thrill of a blue message from time to time is far from a productive member of community from my viewpoint.
A person that comes to the server with desire to contribute to it, joining a faction or making roleplay with other people of community (and i mean roleplay with moderate use of guns), or making his own faction that will contribute. - that's a true member.
Seeing how you opened a pandora's box now I don't think we can beat this one to the pulp.
I had an interesting conversation with one older member of this community last night and we talked about behind the courtain metagaming that occurs around the community. One argued that the metagaming and closed deals behind closed doors sometimes work well for the server and that generally giving everyone ability to know everything ends up bad, while giving it to certain individuals worked so far.
this person isn't an admin but I consider him to be wise, and I enjoy the conversations we have. While I am all for boosting the members and boosting the activities, I am on the other hand completely against powerplay or metagaming.
There are miners that pm me when I log on with "viva Croatia" (in my native language) and talk similar things so they put a pressure on me when I pirate them. I have grown to dislike that because they don't even introduce themselves anymore. I had to acknowledge that this server has, and always will have people that put themselves before the community.
So perhaps powerplay and metagaming can be useful, but I think we can do without it all.
just a little hint - suggesting someone to leave is as good as asking him to leave. - cause the option of leaving is always present and no member of this community does not consider it an opion. - so by suggesting it for whatever reasons ( even if turning his reasons into reasons for him leaving ) you try to overrule his own decision.
never suggest someone to leave unless you want him to leave. - and if that is the case, its more honest to speak it out straight.
this is one of the little threats that hang around the forum. - little threats, little bullying - slightly more subtle than plain trolling.
in general. - 4.86 is - what one might call.... part II of 4.85 ... while 4.85 was discovery the add-on. ( if you get the difference ) - a major bugfix, although bugfix doesn t really cover it all its less an real revolutionary add on - but still more than a patch.
don t be too excited about change, cause change always comes positivly and negativly.
about voicing ones opinion. - there are rules, rules of ethics, rules of staying civil / respectful. - thats got nothing to do with what political system is emulated in the microcosm of a forum. - cause those are rules that adhere to social communication.
sometimes is beneficial to be straight, sometimes you need to be sensitive. - sometimes you want to hurt someones feelings, sometimes you just wanne make a point. - if you wanne hurt someone, better be prepared to be hurt yourself - which many people fail at... most people are great critizising others, but very very weak taking critizism themselves.
all in all - i haven t seen igiss ever restrict the freedom of speech, unless it touches sensitive areas that do not belong here ( political ideologies, religions, or outright disregard of social competence ) - mind you, those values apply to the most "democratic" societies with a high value on "free speech", too.
the community as such hasn t changed much during the last 3 years. ( surprising? ) - there has always been bullying, arguments, huge egos, people who felt they deserved to be better etc. - thats probably human nature.
it might sometimes "feel" different, cause ones own position in the pack changes. - when you re the bully, its fun - and the world is at easy, when you re bullied, its all bad, but the system is the same.
