In the year I've been playing this mod online (admittedly on and off, having been forced to start over a total of four times due to hardware failure.) I've posted something like two or three times in total, so I've got no reputation to speak of on these forums.
However, I've been listening intently.
And during these months and months of lurking on the forums, I've seen countless threads about the sorry state of the community, all started by butthurt players who believe the Admins have an inexplicable personal vendetta against them, and assume everyone else is an incurable "lulwut" who simply isn't even worth talking to. Here's my two cents.
Maybe even three if I'm feeling generous.
This is a game. Granted, you've invested time and effort into those characters of yours. But if you think that's a good enough reason to continue spending your leisure time playing Discovery when it just pisses you off, prompting these endless :@RAGEQUIT threads, then you're treating it too much like work.
By all means go through every channel of communication available to try and fix whatever's got you riled. After all, you obviously enjoyed yourself here at some point, or you wouldn't be reading this, and it really would be fantastic if you enjoyed yourself enough to stick around. There's every chance the admins will do whatever they can to help make the game more enjoyable for you, but not at the expense of others. So don't feel personally insulted and start running your mouth about Admin conspiracies just because you didn't get your way. If you think the pro's still outweigh the con's, suck it up and get back to enjoying yourself.
But if you can't go on any longer without repeatedly spamming the messageboards with hot-headed threats of your own departure...
If you wholeheartedly believe you're part of some "elite" group; the last vestiges of a former glory amidst a sea of "PvPwhores, powertraders, lulwuts and Q_Qers" who don't have anything of value to say...
If you're so utterly convinced you've been wronged by an uncaring Admin/Dev team who callously chuckle as they wipe their PM inbox without a glance at the contents...
Why are you still here?

Treewyrm Wrote:all in all the conclusion is that disco doesn't need antagonist factions, it doesn't need phantoms, it doesn't need nomads, it doesn't need coalition and it doesn't need many other things, no AIs, the game is hijacked by morons to confuse the game with their dickwaving generic competition games mixed up with troll-of-the-day.
People rage, becouse they want to rage. If that's they way which helps them from raging them on poeple in RL I think disco does a really good job.
If that's not the case... fallow the rules and refuse to care about others. Have fun. If anyone else is raging it's most likely their problem. (not always, but most often)
Rest: I don't like people who write in diffrent color just to stand out (when it's not character related)
Also this was said many many +1 times.
"I always operated under the assumption that everyone thought (knew?) the Admin Conspiracy was a joke."
Haha, there just seems to be a reasonably large number of players who believe the admins have it in for them, that's really all I meant.
And I wasn't planning on writing every one of my posts in that slightly grating shade of yellow, it was just for the thread starter because people have a habit of skim-reading then going absolutely nuts about something completely unrelated because they didn't bother to read the actual topic. So I decided to overcome that issue by burning an image of the text into their corneas.
All I'm really trying to say is that this is not a job. You've got to take it seriously to a degree since it's an RP server. But when it stops being enjoyable and you still feel obliged to continue, you should probably take it easy for a while and see if there's a better use for your spare time.
