Twould be a better explanation of why the King is so keen on invading Sirius, rather than pure megalomaniacal villainy -- the King is terrified of his own people, and is trying to forestall economic collapse (and the coups that would ensue) by distracting everyone with a major war.
Besides which, there's nothing that says all the GRN warships are of recent vintage, is there?
(on a slightly related note, I predict an upswing in Junker salvage contracts as the war continues onward)
Other stuff. Corse/Hogosha dealings -- I could see that being primarily a hand-off deal, where the Hogosha would meet a Corse representative, maybe in Languedoc somewhere (or perhaps Roussillon), and trade the artifacts in exchange for something Gallic and expensive, such as Prometheum or fine Wine. I doubt the Hogoshans would actually go very far into Gallia proper, if at all.
All this will hopefully make Kusari more active. I foresee very long, but very profitable Gallia-Kusari-Rheinland routes.
I love the chance to make a new KNF character based on different beliefs, while Hajime Hiroito will be fighting alongside with the emperor, I'm gonna get a new one at orders of the new (kishirosh) government, and from what I read, more open to gaij... foreigner visitors, and more focused on the Blood Dragons.
When the new Kusari government withdrew their combat forces from the Taus, a significant force was trapped behind the Gallic lines. As their desperation grew, the Kusari remnants looked for a leader. The former Kusari Emperor, who had been trapped in Bretonia at the beginning of the Gallic war stepped to the front and took command of the KNF forces trapped in Bretonia. Under the Emperors command, these forces, now referring to themselves as the Ronin, are small in numbers, comprising some 5 battleships, 10 Destroyers and 25 Gunboats and a handful of fighter and bomber wings. While they don't pose a serious threat to Gallic forces in Tau-31, they have a potential to become an important part of Bretonia's defense during the forthcoming war.
I won't lie, this bit flat out pisses me off. It shows that the devteam, or Zelot, or whoever came up with the idea, can pull new factions out of their rear ends without any prior roleplay or gigantic writeup, whereas it takes *years* doing it the straight forward way.
It's a cool idea, but I don't like how it was done at all.
It does make a certain amount of sense - having the Emperor deposed and cut-off remnants of the KNF feeling betrayed. This is particularly true if the former Emperor has played on their feelings of betrayal in order to gain their support.
I would think though, that loyalists among the Hogosha might also have joined them - particularly anyone that happened to be pirating out in Dublin at the time...
What is less clear though - is how the Bretonians would feel about having the Emperor - the man who waged war against them - now on their side. I guess demonstrates just how desperate Bretonia has truly become!

Just saying.
Eh, I could be wrong, and they could be inactive, but I do see them on from time to time... or at least, I did. Still, the essence of my point stands; it's awfully rude to just take the name of an established, albeit unofficial, faction. Maybe not illegal, but rude nevertheless.
What's wrong with giving them a poke, asking if they're still active and if the name could be used? You know... a lil' courtesy. Never hurt anyone.
Then again, talking about courtesy in this community is like talking about courtesy with a Somalian pirate. :$
