Homeland been Mentioned? Its got the guy that played the Cop in Life...(another one i liked)...Its a spy/drama/thriller...reminded me of John le Carre's, "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier,Spy" novel in a way. Its a decent watch with decent acting.
As for Falling Skies...meh....If he doesn't make it off the planet and into a space ship soon it will flop.
Oh....
Spartacus Gods of the Arena Spartacus Blood and Sand
Sucks about the lead actor passing away, but they have found a decent replacement for him for season 3. Very bloody fight scenes with very nice camera work. The Dialog is just funny as hell. I would watch Gods of the Arena first, even though its the second season.
Homeland has in fact, not been mentioned until the moment you mentioned it. I got it on my to-watch list...I've heard good things.
The Falling Skies thing is subjective. Personally, I'm a fan of the 'less is more' way of thinkin' with the aliens...anyway, pretty sure there's gonna be abit more spaceshippy stuff next season based on the cliffhanger.
Also, (just musing out loud) As much as I'm liking American Horror Story now, I'm wondering how their second season is going to be. I think that family is far too broken to carry a whole 'nother season. What would be cool though is if they treat each season as a mini-series & change the living cast every year, telling a different 'horror story' & make it more like an epic anthology
Have not tuned into American Horror Story...but I will give it a go....
I guess my problem (bias) with Falling Skies is that to me it follows a format that is way overused. Its like somewhere there is a shelf with "Tv shows in a box" and some bigwig somewhere says "I need a Space show that everyone can relate to" and then an assistant runs and gets the box they pulled Falling Skies out of.
To many underdeveloped, badly acted, seen before, stereotypical characters.
A Widowed History professor turned freedom fighter
A Hot looking doctor
A renegade bad guy who likes to blow stuff up
A misunderstood general with a secret pain
A small kid who is who is a wiz with Alien Technology
I'm not a fan of the way it is shot either...It either shows how cheap the budget is or, they blew their money on special effects and now have little in the till for shooting scenes.
I have seen plenty of shows that sucked ass the first season, and then took off the second, but I don't think this will be one of them. I know it sounds like I'm dogging it pretty hard, but Ill be there with popcorn and beer when it starts up again.
I watched a show tonight that I liked so much, that it deserves to bump this thread.
It's called Touch & the imdb description doesn't do it justice.
It's really about human interconnectivity...and I don't use this word lightly: the story was absolutely effin' beautiful.
I've watched alot of TV throughout my lifetime & I can't think of a single show I've ever seen...ever that I would describe with that word. To me, it's just simply that good.
Only the pilot has aired so far & I'm not sure when they will begin to broadcast the regular season, but holy crap! Find it. Watch it. I expect you'll be glad you did.
I'd like to mention to those into this sort of thing, that "The Walking Dead" is going to reair the original pilot in black & white this weekend in homage to not only "Night Of The Living Dead" but also the WD comic series which is also B&W
Hatfields and McCoys... I thought it was worth it as a suedo history lesson as to how it all started
Continium Canadian Syfy thing...dunno yet about it..only one episone..but effects are cool..
Lillyhammer... Or What happens when a mob guy who goes into the witsec program..Steve Van Zant
stars..good show...funny as hell....
I was all over H's & M's like white on rice all three nights! loved it!!
The other two I've never heard of, so I'll put my ear to the ground & check 'em out:D
Oh! another show that rocks is "Veep" It's aired 7 ep's already & it's the chick from Seinfeld playing the US vice prez...dirty as hell & funny as s#!%

(not sure what I'm doing wrong w/ the video embedding...seems to work for Alley, but mimicking the format ain't doin' the trick for me)
Anyhoo,
Two episodes deep & this show lives up to the hype so far.
Crew of a sub gets dodgy orders off a secondary network to nuke Pakistan & when the Captain refuses to follow the sketchy order, they get attacked by their own military. The sub crew flees to a remote Island to make a stand while the media paints them as nuclear madmen.
Like all TV shows, it has some flaws but I was really impressed at how tightly packed the plot has been so far.
If you're a fan of 'The Shield' & 'Terriers' watch it because it's written by the same guy.
If that means nothing to you, then just trust me & watch it anyway.
