Wait a minute!, I haven't been pirated since so long I think the last time it was against spazzy within tau 23 on his lick a brick. Am I lucky or too smart?
Seems to be more and more of these kind of pirates floating around.
Is it wrong? Most definitely, in my personal opinion, especially if there was very little roleplaying included. While some may debate that a pirates roleplay is one of ruthlessness and greed, of late, disco pirates have become more of extortionists then pirates.
Example:
I was stopped in California, as I was flying my Spatial back to New York, and a small band of pirate players who shall remain unnamed, dropped the lane, and demanded 10 million credits. Before I could type, my spatial was shieldless, and half my hull was gone. I let them know I did not have 10 million credits, they got mad, and I got vaped.
In the past I would have ranted, raved, and then flown my heavily armed and armoured capital ship to the same area, vaped everything, then stalked the players, recording their characters for future harrassment, and then recieve a ban...
Now I realize that in certain instances pirates make significantly less money then traders, and it used to be, that we logged our unlawful characters when we got tired of the long lonely powertrading excursions, and wanted to be entertained by begging traders, and beginners, who groveled on all fours for their life, and their livelyhood. We continued to plague certain areas in packs until the lawfuls came along chased us out, or destroyed us as we uttered curses and threats and we scrambled to our life pods...
Unfortunately, Discovery has changed since then, and the majority of the pirates we are referring to in this thread are prepubescent children, bored housewives, lonely old farts, or ball and chained individuals who vent their marital frustrations by flying around the galaxy wearing their underwear on their heads, Proclaiming boldly and without shame how l33t they are, while simultaneously ruining the fun for the rest of us.
But what do you expect when we as a community are quick to pull the trigger, cast a blind eye when asked for help, and are generally intolerable all the way around?
Maybe those asking for tolerance shouldn't go around blindly bashing other people?
Anyway, n00bl3t. I have given thought to your statement. And I have played some BOTF, and I thought some more. And in the end I have decided that it does have merit. While I cannot promise I will wholly divorce forum and miner, I will try to do so better.
